Looked thru the history and couldnt find anything. Im getting for my next project and am stuck between Ray's Skybird and Oly III. I will be electrifying the ship. Any thoughts?

Either one will make you a happy camper. If you've not built one of Ray's kits, you're in for a real treat.

+1 for the Skybird, just a darn cool looking bird, and it flies fantastic (The Oly III is also a great flyer) but the Skybird just has a ton of style. I have one flying, and another in kit form still. The last flight on my flyable one was an 8 hours and 6 minutes slope flight at the big M in Wisconsin. It is smooth and impressive in the air, has incredible legs for a woodie (well almost woodie, it has the optional fiberglass fuselage), launches nice, and will hang in the lightest air.

Ray at Skybench.com is the only fellow i know of who has built and flown both models so send him a note and ask- i am sure he will be glad to give you a constructive answer.

fyi - there is a very good (recent)summary of the Oly series plane kits from
builders at the rcgroups web link. Most of what is said applies to both Skybird and Oly3 kits.

either way plane kit wise, you can't go wrong, js

I built a Skybird and enjoyed it... However, I think the Oly III might perform better...
