Hi Flyboy286,

If you want to make your firewall bulletproof (), you could add a 1/16 fibreglass (or better still carbon fibre) plate and bolt it in to the ply you've already fitted. Any old pc board wud do the job.

Enjoy building (as much as anyone does ) it'll be up soon.

Cheers

Your welcome John. Mine has had countless flights over the years with no issues since the repair I had done back then. I have long since given away the spare Beaver I had NIB.
All the best with your fix,
Gerry

Hi Flyboy286,

I'm glad you found the idea is good and more to the fact, you'd not have to get it from China, LMS but it's been waiting in your garage asking to be used...

Hi Gerry,

Thanks for posting the template. I'll keep it in my "Repair Hints" file and hoping that never have to use it.

Now, I find acronym always baffles me

What is NIB? You've five choices :

a. News In Brief; b. New In Box; c. New Interface Builder; d. Not In Business.

e. or none of these but it's..... over to you Gerry

Cheers

Yes...new in box. When mine had crashed I was sure it was not worth repairing and bought a new one. After thinking about it for a few days I figured I had nothing to lose by giving the repair a try. I figured it would be a bit of a job building the ARF and swapping parts anyway.

Hi Gents!

I’ve flown my EF beaver last Sunday and took an inboard camera attached to the wing, this plane rocks! Really impressed with this plane flying straight in crosswind during takeoff and landing!

It’s been a long time since I visited this page – good to be back and get more useful tips J,
was just busy building a bigger ARF (Hangar9 p47d-1 60size on 8s weighing at 14lbs), and crashed it on the maiden due to ‘me’ pilot error plus flying in crosswind L, so back on flying my beaver which is very stable in the wind even though it’s much lighter (maybe because of its long narrow main wings),
flown my J3 cub as well together with the beaver but the J3’s was shakey in cross wind as well!
Love the Beaver!!

Here’s the videos

e-flite beaver flight -wing camera (5 min 59 sec)

e-flite beaver flight (6 min 45 sec)

Regards,
Richard
