Hobby King Surge Crusher and Exceed
I recently got the HK Surge Crusher http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...g_n_drive.html for my birthday and I am pleasantly surprised with this boat. at 29" long it's a good sized boat and uses two 2s lipos (4s total power) 3660kv motor with a 50amp ESC. The ESC is a little on the light side and I would rather see a 80amp ESC. I am running two 2s 5000mah 40c batteries and the motor and esc is cool to the touch. this boat is super fast and fairly stable (flipped once on a windy day) when its up on plane and for the price $175 it can't be beat. I added my own flotation and RX and that is it. One problem I did have is that the flex cable and the nut the holds on the prop was rusted and a pain in the butt to get off. Once I got it off and greased everything I had no more issues. Here is a video of it running and of my Exceed shark
I have had the Exceed Shark for about 6 months I bought it from Nitro RCX and this is one of my favorite boats! http://www.nitrorcx.com/99b-10021-650-ep-kit.html Get the kit and just add your own ESC, motor, servo, and RX I used a Turingy 2900kv with a turingy 80amp ESC and run it on a 3s 3600mah lipo and this boat scream! it's faster than the surge crusher and has a stepped hull. It is super stable and has a self righting system if it flips.
I also have the Exceed P1 and this boat has been nothing but problems! I have finally sorted everything out. It arrived with a bent shaft and being a 4mm shaft I had a hard time finding parts. Ebay was the best place to get the flex shafts and I just cut them to size. I used the same set up on this boat Turningy 2900kv and 80amp ESC and I had constant over heating issues. I upgraded the water jacket and that has cooled things down. It's not as fast as the Shark (assume it's hull drag) but it is super stable and has never flipped. You can see it in action here.
Here are some photos
I have a new water jacket, coupler and velcro strapping since this photo

I'm glad you like running your boats.
The Surge Crusher is the only boat I've never seen in the flesh, but it seems to be a good design, capable of more than the stock performance.
The Exceed P1is the same hull as the ARPRO from Dragon, which I have two of, the Shark is a copy of an older German (competition) design that has been around for ages, it runs very well, but has become too small to be competative with the current brushless set-ups in races.

I do not race I just run my boats for personal enjoyment. I wanted to share my boat collection in case people wanted a lower price point to get into RC boating and to give a mini review of the boats.
