Hitec X4 Charger Product Support

Hey Guys,

I was wondering where the software/PC interface kit is available at? I'm not seeing it anywhere. Where do we get them and how much do they cost? If they aren't available yet, how much longer do we have to wait and who do we purchase them from?

Mike

hi, im re-posting this here. pardon me if this is not appropriate, but i didnt get any responses for the original post and id really like some feedback on this. this is the first charger of this type ive used. (im sure its user ignorance and not defective product ;-)

hitec x4

operation:
menu/user set:
this has max amps shutoff setting and timer safety shutoff setting.

Q: when charging nimh packs (my example), should you set this to the packs rating? if so, this would mean you need to set the max mah's manually every time you change packs, even tho you have programed a preset for that pack. so to charge a diff. pack/mah rating, you would change "user set/max amps, then load preset and start charge/dischg or cycle.

Q: can you define the "auto" and "manual" charge mode with respect to peak detection, or whatever it has to do with?

when set to the default 5000(user set prgm safety setting), i have found the charge overshoots the packs mah rating.
im using a preset (load data) memory setting to charge the nimh pack.
(i have programed the memory preset to match the packs mah ratings, volts, and using default peak detection, etc...)
ex. : charge overshot a 2000mah pack and charged to 2900mah's, i stopped it at that point by hitting "stop"

im using: Hobbico HydriMax 4C 4.8V 2000mAh NiMH Square AA Rx U
charge at .200A, dischrg to 1.1/cell at .300A, default peak det., im pretty sure i used "man" charge.

much appreciate!

i do have an additional question.
on the hitec charger, li ion selection is set for 3.6V per cell.
i have a fromeco 2 cell li-ion pack rated at, and instructions say to charge at 7.4V
Q: how is a 2 cell pack (7.4V) equal to 3.6V per cell? (as set in "user settings" on the charger)
thanks!

recommended power supply for Hitec X4

The recommended eFUEL PSU30A (13.8V,30A, 400W) power supply appears to be rare as hens teeth. Is there anyone out there reading this, and who understands electronics, familiar with a different power supply that is of similar or better quality that is more readily available?

Hitec X4 programming questions

Made friends with the Hitec X4 multicharger using the "program flow chart", for me that flow chart was the key! NOW (next step) I need to figure out WHAT values should be put into the charger program for LiFe (A123) batteries.

Specifically I have 2 sizes of LiFe, I think the larger are 2600 mah cells and smaller are 1100 mah cells wired in series of 4 cells. The charger has the following screens that need info input.

In order these are the screens I need to fill in to program the X4 Charger:

"LiFe Charge X.XA, 3.3V(1S)" ?for the A should I charge the 2600's at 5 amp? And 2 amps for the 1100's?

"LiFe Balance X.XA, 3.3V(1S)" ?I don't know what amps to input. I don't understand this function.

"LiFe Fast Charge X.XA, 3.3V (1S)" Should I make this one 5 amp and the first one something less, perhaps 3 amp?

"LiFe Storage, X.XA, 3.3(1S)" Should this be ? same as regular charge A?

"LiFe Discharge, X.XA, 3.3(1S)" What should I put for A? 1 amp?

I really like this charger once I got over being intimidated by it <grin>.

Thanks for any help! Carl in Albany Oregon
