Need some help guys...

Allright guys...

I'm planning (actually its partially done) a full fuse, five channel (servo on each aileron, elev, rudder, throttle) and retracts (unfortunately two servos on the retracts one on the nose gear and one on the mains) parkflyer EDF. It is loosly based on the Mountain Models ParkJet and will use many of the primary components. I intend to be able to use a standard 15-20 amp brushed esc and lipos...

Now for my question. How many servos can I safely operate on that 15 amp esc. I understand that there are manufacturers limitations but what I want is real world how many have you run one one. The esc in question is a Zagi 15 (possibly 20) amp esc that came standard with a Zagi 400X. I intend to use 3 picos and 3 hs-55's. Well.. any real world data?

Thanks in advance to the moderators for leaving the post put (if that's something you can do ...

Scott,
The most I've run on a Zagi 20 is 4 servos...2 pico BB's and 2 HS-55's (2 aileron, elev and rudder, all firing at the same time).....so this probably doesn't serve as much more than a "bump"

sierra,
A bump is a worthwile cause... To be honest I'm probably okay as the two retract servos will be mostly stationary. I guess we'll see... Thanks.

2 or 3 cells? On three, I have ran 4 hs55s without a problem. On 2 I would guess you could get away with 50% more, so 6 servos might be possible. HS50 and 55s draw much less current than picos and naros.

Probably so if you can get some over-travel built in such that the servos aren't under load in the up/down positions.

You going to be able to get enough watts at <15 amps to fly it decent? The Parkjet is 17 oz., I would think with double the servos, a full fuse and retracts the weight would be at least 24. At a minimal 120 w/lb that puts you at 180 watts. You may need that 20a ESC That's assuming it's an EDF.

Scott, you might talk to Martin as he was running 5 servos in his Hurricane way back when....Seems like it was a Kontronic ESC of some type.

Tres,
The ParkJet is 16.5 oz with a 9 cell (7 oz.) Kan pack. This one will be using a 3s 1200 Etec at about 9 amps WOT through the EDF 75. That saves about 4+ oz. That should give me more than enough weight room to put a full fuse and retracts. I'm planning on being in at less than 17 oz AUW so yes it should pull (er..... push) it around.

Paul,
Thanks... I'm running five servos in a Dystraction with retracts and so far it seems to be okay... I appreciate it.
