BS2 and the sabertooth 2x25

Hello All

I'm new to this forum so please bare with Me.

I have a new D.E.sabortooth 2x25. I want to control this with a BS2 using simple serial commands. So far my results have been random at best.

The D.E. Docs state that sending a "character" of 1 - 127 will control M1 and 128 - 255 will control M2. The Docs also state the 64 is the center-off value for M1. This does not stop the motor on M1 however I can send a 0 and stop the motor.0 is the ALL-Stop command for the 2x25.

Its more than obvious that 127 is not half of 255 (127.5) and half of 127 is not 64 center-off (63.5). Is this a program problem with the D.E.2x25?

Has anyone had any luck with simple serial and the D.E.2x25??

wait whats happening? i think i know of the esc your using, isn't it a dualmotor speed control? it sounds like(if i'm getting this correctly) that your esc isn't stopping the motors when it is supposed to. i think the only way would be to find a way to program it to work. but i'm still not sure of the issue.

Have you got both motors going forwards and backward? Is that the problem, or just finding center off?

My read on it is with a character over serial, is like a serial print or Bin2Ascii command. So going full forward would be something like SerPrint ("127255"), stop SerPrint ("064192"), and full reverse SerPrint ("001128"). If that's not working for you, then check the baud rate, or any other settings that are required.

As far as the center off of 64, and 192, just go with the flow and not worry about splitting hairs.
