Saito 180 in a giant big stik

Juts wondering if a saito 180 would have enough power to fly a great planes giant big stik, doing sport aerobatics. Wondering because I have a saito 180 looking for a home, and the ugly stik is big and fun to fly.

You'd want a thrust to weight ratio of 1.4 to 1 for nice sport aerobatics. Saito 1.8s with at last 15% nitro fuel should put out about 14 pounds thrust. What does a giant stick weigh?

I think the Saito 180 will fly it fine. I have a DLE 30 on mine.

awesome, i finally found a plane to match the 180. the question is what prop? aerobatic or sport prop choice?

Oh well, something to think of later.

I've got a giant Big Stick, now on it's third year of flying. Power is a 2600 Watt electric Hacker motor, swinging a 19X12 APC-E wide blade prop at 6700 RPM on the ground, 7200 RPM in a dive in the air.

Power is quite adequate, the model gets off the ground in 30 feet or so.

Here is some info on glow/gasser versus electric power to give an idea.

This model easily flies with 400 Watts of power or so, once it's in the air. That 400 Watts would be a glow 46 or so.
