Absolutely some of the most amazing model craftsmanship I have ever seen. The workmanship throughout this build is unreal.

Thanks Bob and Everyone

Our flight home from Frankfurt was smooth. Condor Air's Business Class service is superb. It made the 12 hours pass quickly. We had a great time with our daughter and have already decided to do this again next year.

The above post of Preston running in steam for the first time was a joy! Now I can plan the launch ceremony. There are still a few details to finish before Preston is fully operational, but most will involve running the boat. First I will determine what I run out of first- fuel or water. I'm preparing a sea trial run schedule to give me run times at progressively higher paddle wheel rpm's. Preston will then run through a series of operational schedules with a mix of run vs. idle profiles. With these I'll be able tell how long I can sit idle and still have water/fuel for a return to the dock from max range with a comfortable safety margin.

I'm under the gun to get the display table built. This will hold Preston in her display case and be located in the living room.

I very much appreciate all your interest in this build and hope the launch videos will entertain and educate. Great work on the engines Dave!

Well I got the exhaust piping installed. I did another run and the engines sound even better.

Wow....
Your going to have to remove the stickers on your DX10 and re-label it ''engineer in a box'' with all the machinery associated functions!!

Superb work on the steam everything!!

Can't wait to see videos of this on the water under her own steam!

Cheers

I'm still waiting for fooman to ship me a couple of 1/32 snipes. I need a boilerman and a machinist mate.
I'll let Mike source a Captain and deck crew.

Preston's Second Engine Run Video

In the water working against water resistance, the engines will work even better. I'm imagining her running on a glass-smooth morning with a bit of mist and fog backdrop.
The punch list is now very small. A little lagging and we will be ready for dock trials.
