Sean, wish granted, in about a week or so. I'm getting ready to cut the control horns right now.

Quick Q: should I make the hole in the flap & aileron horn about level with the servo horn, or slightly above it? There is only one hole protruding outside the servo bay, should I use it, or the one just inside the bay (making the control rod pop out of the bay going to the flap)?

Well, it was mine. Due to some 'issues' in our club, I just put in my request for Inactive Status with our club. On Inactive Status, I'm not allowed to fly, or participate in events.

Won't nose into your business TJ but I do know about clubs. I know you're busy but if you need a place to fly call me.

Got a fix for that too.

Hey, guys, is there any reason for me not to use CA hinges on my flaps and ailerons? I'm just not feeling the love for the Blenderm tape. It's either too tight or too loose, and my Fs and As can wiggle about up and down at the hinge line. I just don't like it. I would have to cut the slots at an angle, but that won't be an issue.

I hate CA hinges but................they work fine.
As for taping the surfaces you can do the "X" style with alternating surfaces. I'll see if I can find a photo, too lazy to explain.

Or, tape the top surface of the ailerons, leaving a slight gap for clearance, then flip the aileron all the way over onto the top of the wing and run a line of tape along the TE of the wing/LE of the aileron. That will isolate the up and down movement and everything should still move free. Same for flaps except of course you're taping the bottom skin.

Sean, the bottom method is what I used, and they still have some wiggle. The tape is too stretchy for me.


Uh oh. What's this about having the bevel on the bottom of the aileron? Oops! Both flaps and ails have the bevel on the top.

I'll try the X on one. I I like it, I'll switch. That darned tape is STICKY, and gets everywhere. XD

Typically the ailerons are Down and Up deflection.
Flaps are Neutral to Down deflection.

Now depending on how you attach things you will want a different tapper.
I.E. if you use X method (I use this alot of spot planes you need to tapper both top and botton of the aileron leading edge

If you use tape along the top edge you only tapper the button edge on the ailerons.

I often do the same thing on the flaps. but it could be done reverse
