Here is my sig clipped wing cub 1/6th scale. I'm currently finishing it up and its now covered in solartex. I do like the covering but I miss the bare bones look already. Here is a link to build log if you want to see her all dressed up:

Thats some fine framework there!.
any reason you didnt use transparent film so you could still see the frame?

Thank you. I considered using transparent blue but I wanted to keep it more scale and use fabric. The antique solartex I used is semi transparent though so some of the framing is visible in the light.

Thanks! Its a scratch design and build by me.
Good guess, no rudders and Differential throttle.

I designed it to fly High Alpha hover Vertically.
Delta was chosen as they naturally do high alpha well.

The foil is the same thickness the entire wing, this means that the leading edge near the nose is sharper and stalls before the wing tip.

The motors were put infront of the wing so that there is always air flowing
over the wing tip, meaning the wing tip should never stall.

All these ideas must work as it simply doesn't tip stall.

The Motor / Elevon position also means that is has thrust vectoring.
Essential for hovering and great for high alpha.

The props are counter rotating ans installed in a way that goes against
the direction that tip vorticies flow.

Lastly the wingtips go above and below the wing greatly reducing bad tip
vorticies.


The vertical surfaces were designed like that ( Even amount above and below)
to enable it to be put on its end and take off vertically.
I had origionally intended to land vertically too but that needed a good stabaliser.
I tried the Guardian 2d/3d but they are garbage.
The Orange 3ch gyro is much better, I just need some good weather so I
can adjust the gains a bit more.

Great post. Nothing I like more than scouring the Build Logs and looking at the pictures.

Most complete picture I have of my Tyro before I covered it. It is my second plane and first kit build. Finished it about a month ago and have since enjoyed many, many hours of flying it. I think I enjoyed building it as much as flying it. I already have bookmarked about 20 more that will likely be next.

This is my current project, a Monoprep. I'm building it from Doc Mathews plans.

It'll be a 72" span, powered by an OS .52 4 stroke.
