Yes, and as well as on airliner wings, you can occasionally see them on some racing cars.

Not to hand, no. However, from memory the ones I've seen look like little shark's fins. I've seen them both on the suction side of rear wings and occasionally upstream of the rear wing on the engine cover. Clearly aero aids like this are only used on cars developed in wind-tunnels because get them wrong and they're worse than useless.

Been playing about with chuck gliders.First one about 15" span was a bit heavy,but with a tail it's made a good catapult plane for my grandson,he's well pleased.This one is about 24",tried it with a tail to get cg some where near,then cut some drag rudders.Seems to glide a good line,but haven't much space indoors and it's been to windy to try outside.Both these have a flat bottom foil,I'm going to buy some more 2mm depron tomorrow,see if I can produce a symmetrical wing with a bit of linear twist,maybe a bit bigger.

Looking good. The one I built had 2 degree geometric washout and never flew without vertical stabilizers at the wing tips. I never explored any other ways for yaw stabilization and interested in your yaw rudder design. The wing ribs were EH 1.59.0 and worked a lot better than the clark y I tried before. CG was 12" back from the wing root.
With the EH 1.59.0, the plane performed much better but they broke from the attachment point to the fuselage when I was in a manuver. I was able to salvage the wings and installed them onto another fuselage(picture). This plane is fast and very maneuverable with this airfoil.

Thanks p901,I was reading your previous post earlier.After I got it gliding with tail etc,just added a touch more lead shot in the nose,cut the t/e to make the rudders and was pleasantly surprised.Like I said,need to get a longer flight.I aren't going to cut ribs,just do a folded l/e,couple of depron spars and see how good a foil results.Been following your input on Franks thread,very interesting although the electronics are way over my head.
btw any progress on the mid prop?

My HOx went through many changes and crashes to make it fly right. I hope yours will be a nice flyer. It is a really good looking design.
Mid prop is going fine. Working on forward fuselage and wings, no pictures, just pre fitting parts.
I hope Frank continues working on his design. It looks like he is making good progress.
