Broke the tail off in front of the rudder the other week at another clubs field. They had a lawn for a strip but it was a bit long.

On investigation it was a significant weak point with no glue joining the rudder piece to the fuz so only the thin sidewalls kept it together. I'm surprised it hadn't broken before this.

So I completely cut it off, removed the paint, roughed up the foam ends and glued with contact cement. Not CA, epoxy, or a rubber glue. 30mins until touch dry and 12hr full clued. Should forever now.

It's winter here and the cold and rain have set in. Time for building. Go flying for us who can't

It's a good looking model of a kit aircraft isn't it. Not a horribly popular model but it cruises so well.
The motor that came with mine was 500kv not 800kv. Took a bit of testing to confirm so if you find you lack power that might be why.

Not surprised, I've had the same experience with a different aircraft. The quality control in China is horrible at best

I've had two of these HK Fly Baby planes. The first one crashed and burned within 20 seconds after I foolishly followed the CoG instructions in the manual.

My second one though I love and its been flown far more than any other RTF model I've ever bought! Great for stunts, inverted flying, FPV etc.

It's a blast to fly and always makes me and my fellow flyers smile. It's like "The Little Engine That Could".

I fly it with a 4S 3300mAH battery. It feels under powered, but hey, that's half the fun and the battery lasts a long time

I use a 4000mAH compact batt and she is heavy but scoffs at winds that keep most others grounded and goes as she's named. Too heavy for stunts other than stall turns. Gracefull doing those.
Yes CG is completely wrong as stated. Recipe for disaster.

I'd be interested in your FPV setup sometime. I'm just getting into FPV and while it wont be for awhile yet putting a camera on this would be good.

I've got a 1/4 scale one of these (gas powered) & it flies just so nice, I;d love one of these but too many toys in my hanger already
I NEVER set a CofG according to what HK say, that alone is a recipe for disaster, they rarely get them correct! The CofG on this sort of wing plan is dead easy, so much info avail on the net about balance etc.
