New Product
Two EDO fan versions now in stock

OK guys I just got in a shipment of the other style 64mm EDF fan units. These have the inlet lip as a separate piece so it should cover all the 64mm EDF ARF and RTF applications out there today

One piece:

Two piece:

Don, for the 2 piece fan, do you have dimensions published anywhere? Specifically the length of the shroud minus the lip? The application I have in mind does not require the lip, but I need to see how much carving or filling I might need to do in order to drop it in.

Actually I can not say I did not test it at all. it does pull similar amps as the EDO fan does and I did a set for a guy with Wicked 4800s on 3S for a Max-Jet SR-71. The main reason I want to test it is for the wicked 4000 plus motors and possibly 4400 plus on 4S for higher power 64mm applications. The EDO type I fan has been working but I wish the rotor was a little bit stronger. This new fan unit is the same as the fan used in many of the Nitroplanes kits.

Benefits:
1) stiffer rotor for more watts (main objective)
2) no tabs need to be ground out to make standoff fit
3) rotor is keyed to adapter

Downside:
1) requires a LOT of ballast to dynamically balance they shake like crazy out of the box.
2) rotor adapter only has one set screw so will require loctite to secure properly for higher watts.

Sounds like stiffer rotor should make more power but the tradoff is difficulty balancing and having to balance or risk exploding the fan. Plus, care must be used to secure the rotor adapter.

I tested the Wicked 4000 plus in the airfield 64mm fan and on 4S I get similar to the EDO 1 fan , I got about 42 amps and 620 watts with this unit.

Hi Don,

Will you be getting more EDO type 2's in soon? I see they're out of stock on your site.

Thanks!

Very cool! I just ordered a 4000Kv and edo 2 balanced set up on your site. This is going in to hobby lobby's new f9f panther. Are you gonna hit the button on that one?? If so, I'll be looking forward to your review.

Thanks again!

I am thinking about it. But the issue is the next few months will be snow so will not really be able to fly much now. Wish it was out about a month sooner, I may pick one up if they go on sale after Thanksgiving. Are you planning on running 4S?
