I'd go for the Ultimate as she can be flown slower and floats better. But tell us what you were flying so far and what you are looking for in your next plane.

Ok so my planes so far are a big 500 class Cessna, FPV Bixler, a ridiculously overpowered carbon fibre ooozing Bixler, T-28 + Rarebear Funfighters,UMX Beast3D, MIG-15 EDF and Micro Edge 540 and Hobbyking Galaxy. My favourite is the B3D to fly as I love how agile it is but ive had a big falling out with Horizon Hobby Electronics (spending 300 on micro's that fail is not impressive) so Its time for me to build a plane to my spec!!!!

here are some pros and cons:

The ultis performance envelope cant be beat - super slow and floaty OR fast and accurate

and the sheer beauty and uniqueness of the Ulti are hard to go past.

The Extra 260 bias awat from slow floaty 3d and more towards speed and precision - it can be hovered for sure but you have to be more on the sticks

The Ulti build is more involved due to the cabane / extra wing / aileron linkages - but it is quality time that should be appreciated with a good music and a few dedicated bottles of assembly fluid (red wine or a fine ale)

while both are great planes the Ulti is a purely magical experience every flier should have in their "career"

so i lean towards the Ulti in my recommendation.

Having said that my all rounder right now is an extra as i wanted to strengthen my speed and precision flying techniques. But is sure miss my ulti

Yep I have both

Here is the 260

260 Ways To Have Fun (4 min 40 sec)

And here is the Ultimate

Precision Aerobatics Ultimate AMR (7 min 16 sec)

The 260 was flat out my Fave plane when I got it but these days if I had to choose between the 2 I would go with the AMR. It does the book!!!

I've only had the AMR but would happily recommend it. It's pretty unique and is the one plane that always goes to the flying field. It's just a fun plane to fly and inspires confidence. It's not as precise as some monoplane designs and needs lots of mixing to get over some strong rudder coupling issues but these things take nothing away from it's performance.
Like most PA planes some of the build is a bit time consuming and 'fiddly'. There are a couple of frustrating little design issues like the pathetic tail wheel (will probably fall off on the first outing), diabolical battery access and cheapo wheel spindles (wheels spin on screw threads and wear out in a few flights).. Read the AMR build thread for solutions to these little details.
