what equipment are you running in your stryker? Im trying to add it all up and see what it would take to get one goin (and if i can use anything i already have). Also what parkzone parts do i need and not need if i want a faster setup like yours?

As far as stock parts go, I would just get the canopy cover sets and the fuse. You will need to make an "A" frame of Carbon Fiber rods to prevent flexing. The stock fuse has Fiberglass rods which you will want to remove and drop the CF in place. I use 6mm tubes. If you go to my blog, I actually have pictures of the Tube placement that is widely used on Stryker Forum (which is where I learned how to do it).

Balsa elevons with the hinging method of your choice are much better than the stock ones which tend to flutter at speed. The control rods should be at least 2-56 rods with good quality metal clevises, I use a fully threaded rod, cut to length, screw on 1 clevis, then run a lock-nut down to it, put the other lock-nut on, then attach the second clevis. Use a good quality control horn on the elevon side, I use a Dubro horn.

I use "Trailing Edge" balsa stock for mine, Cut/sanded to the correct length/angle, and make a tape hing (as tight as I can get it while allowing for full travel, the smaller the gap the better, taped on top and bottom) using Fiber Tape, and epoxied flat Carbon Fiber to the back of the wings prior to hooking up the elevons to give the hinge something solid to move on (vs just foam). I dont remember the exact size of the stock that I used, but in RC Country I just grabbed a pack of Stock elevons and took them over to the balsa and eyeballed a close match between the size of the elevon, and the size of the trailing edge of the Stryker's wing.

The motor will take a full size heat sink with minimal trimming of the heat sink, and I highly recommend using one. The motor I use stays very cool (with heat sink) running an APC 7x5 Sport prop, but I am upping it to a 7x7.

If you have good 3s Lipos already (60-80 amp discharge capability), you could keep all of these ingredients but use a higher kv motor like the ARC 28-47-1.5 (2800kv) and run 6" props instead of 7".

My setup pulls ~60 amps and makes ~900 watts on the 7x5.

Ok cool. Yah i forgot to say id prefer to stick with 3S. i have a few already (hyperions, 25c 2100, 35c 2200, and 25c 2500) and plan to get more of the 35c 2200's.

It costs more, but you should look at a MicroDan 2505 speed wind. By one once and have it forever with the lifetime warranty. That motor on the 3s and a Castle Creations 35 ESC will get you around 80MPH. (Needs to be Castle to keep up with the high-pole motor)

No good for a Stryker id say, the airframe has a lot more drag than the ritewings. It needs a 28mm in or out runner (like your Mega) and a minimum of a 6" prop to get close to 100mph. The real "Speed" guys have stepped it up to 36mm motors and more cells (150mph +) There are some guys on the thread who fly smaller motors, and 1 guy who flys with a Microdan motor like that, but he is flying a very lightweight Stryker at low speed with it.

Edit: Def not saying it wouldnt work, just would not be ideal, and would give less room for growing. Now that I see this lifetime warranty though, I may pick up one of the Microdans for the yardbirdrc.com mini park jet pusher I am looking at getting...

Is anyone up for flying next Monday? Or was everyone only free due to the holiday?

I am selling my Stryker...has a Mega 16/15/3 with a Thunderbird 54...HS-82MG's in the wings. I will let it go with the AR6100 for $200. Very fast for a 3S! Gets close to 100MPH.

Sure! It is really good shape...has a little dent on the left wing leading edge...fixed it up with a couple of carbon fiber and epoxy...can't even see it unless I point it out. She is really fast for a 3S set-up. The only reason I plan on selling it is to fund yet another large project!

There is a large field in Natomas on the corner of Del Paso and Town Center Dr. It's between the ARC campus and Safeway. There is quite a bit of smooth plowed dirt for runway too. Also close to bathrooms and stores. No trees or poles sticking out of the ground. about 10-15+ acres of open space.

Hey I just looked at the spot on Google Maps, It looks good from space!

Have you flown there before? Do other people fly there?

Anyone ever flown out here? Lots of open space and smooth surfaces for runways. I'm speaking of the land mass between Safeway and the high school

I am going to go fly at the field that Foamcrazee has highlighted above Saturday at 1:00pm, to check it out. I will post back what its like.

I am also planning on flying at the Elk Grove/Grant line exit spot on Monday around 1:00pm.

Anyone think they can make it?
