Seawind Flyzone Select Scale

Thought we should get a thread about this bird in the right area. It flys awesome, can't wait for Spring to fly her off the lake. The only problem with her is the stickers peeled off. I tried to re-apply them after cleaning the surface with alcohol, but they peeled off anyway in flight. Here she is now painted with enamel, I'm still not done but thought I would share my idea

Thank you. I sure will as soon as the ice melts on my local pond.

It's the ultimate SUV of airplanes. I'm loving mine. Can't wait to fly it off the lake.

Gotta have one. A true amphib. Do all the decals come off easily? If so, that's OK by me. I seldom like the decals that come on a plane and I like to add a personal touch on my planes.

Cheers
Steve

After a month of flying "some" of the decals have come off! Nothing big but parts are missing.

So I guess they would peel off pretty easy with just a little help???

Cheers

Sold my Harvard and the Seawind is on the way from the fine folks at Motion RC.
Also, I have read that some are flying this plane on 4S, anyone know of any problems encountered as a result?

Cheers

That's good to hear. I have lots of 3S 2200's. I remember reading a comment or 2 suggesting the Seawind was "sluggish" on 3S but it's not an aerobat and I had a feeling that 3S would do the job for scale like performance.

Cheers

UPS delivered my Seawind today and it is in excellent condition as is usually the case with items shipped by Motion RC. I started the assembly (I don't get in a hurry with these things) and the first thing I noticed was that every time I put my hand inside the fuse the canopy fell down. If I even breathed on the support struts the canopy would drop. Quick and easy fix was to take the support struts off and turn them front to back. Now when my hand or a finger comes into contact with the struts the canopy stays in place and to lower it I just nudge the lower part of the struts forward and down it comes. Works much better for me. I'll finish things up tomorrow after my "pensioner nap".

Cheers
Steve

Maiden flight

Maidened the Seawind today off a grass strip. 1st flight was on 3S, 2200, 25 C with 11X7X3 blade. Not very impressed with the power as it took more runway to get off the ground than I thought it should. Once airborne and trimmed I needed 75-80% throttle to maintain straight & level cruise, again not real impressed. For the 2nd flight I went back to the stock, 12X6X2 blade prop with again a 3S 2200, 25C and performance was a bit better but still not what I would call comfortable. Straight and level cruise could be maintained on 50% throttle. The Seawind flys nice and smooth and lands very gently but I would like to see a tad more "snap" when it comes to throttle response. Completion of a loop at full throttle from straight & level flight with the 3 blade was not happening and on the 2 blade was a real strain and just barely manageable. I would like to be able to fly it with a 3 blade for scale purposes and will try a 12X8X3 to see if that's a workable combination and if not will look at other options. Overall a nice flying plane but could in my opinion, use a little more snap.

Cheers
Steve
