Wind-surfing large-scale glow & gas-powered planes

Here's some 'wind-surfing' action that I shot at the club field a few seasons back. A few guys were determined to fly at the spring fly-in - despite the 30+ MPH wind w/45 MPH gusts!

ACRC Spring Fly-In - windsurfing a fun-fly plane & large-scale gasser (10 min 31 sec)

UMX Beast 3D on 3s

And on the opposite end of scale, here's some old hatcam footage of me windsurfing the Beast 3D on 3s in a gusty 26 MPH wind. That plane is simply amazing. Feels like a large-scale ship, but thrust-to-weight on 3s is well-over 3:1. Handles winds that ground most large-scale ships.

Windsurfing the ol' Beast:

Eflite UMX Beast 3D on 3s - in a 26 MPH wind! Stationary KE, elevator landings, etc (8 min 10 sec)

On-board video from the UMX Beast 3D on 3s. Rolling vertical climbs, spins, loops, KE loops, and more. Better grab the Dramamine!

Eflite UMX Beast 3D on 3s - on-board video (6 min 40 sec)

Some footage my wife took of my vintage KAVAN model Sopwith pup. Her family got me the kit for Christmas, and these were from the maiden flights. She's a beauty.
Btw, "ARF" meant something Very Different around 1999. A lot of work for a foamy! Worth it though.

Here is my buddy Bill with his third flight. This video shows how nice the LG is on the landing and we discuss how it works at the end as well:

Been thinking of the little polecat I have lately, and to see what I can do to get a little more speed out of it. Earlier, I picked up a couple motors from hobbyking -- the s-line 3200kv (HK1812), and this little motor is an absolute beast. I ran it up to almost the breaking point (EG: I smelled windings start to cook), and this is what I got using a gws 4040 prop. I really thought I was going to throw a blade at WOT.

If you guys want, I can send you the real-time recording when I ran the motor on the bench. At WOT, it sounded pretty angry. You'd need powerproview for it. Otherwise, I could screencap it to upload to youtube. What do you guys want?

So here I thought my wife had a great idea, when she said "go ahead, put all your planes up on display! Right above your desk". I agree. They look great!!!!

But then I realized the fatal flaw in my plan, on the very day I emptied the wall to go flying! No more "Working Late" when I actually get out early.

Sure enough, I checked Facebook while I was at the field:
