I would have a stab at 'Avoncraft Cub'

Similar to an 'EMP Halton Special' but the tail end is different.

Both long out of production.

Cheers

Gary,

Not sure about it being an Avoncraft Cub which I think was 60in span.

Here is a photo which I believe is a Cub.

Dave.

I think we're warm between us!

Photo in post #3 is on the RCM&E forum and described as an Avoncraft Colt (72" span?).

Model in post #1 looks like it has ailerons which might narrow it down.

Avoncraft and MicroMold appear to be related, I might have an old MM catalogue.

Merlin, yes!

I just found it in the MM price list, the kit was 28 in 1978.

Will see if I can find it in the main catalogue.

Yup, found it. I'd scan the page but it's stapled together with very rusty staples!!

'Avoncraft Series Two Merlin', they say it was developed from an earlier version, ABS fuselage, available as covered ARF or uncovered.

Also available with a 72" 'stunt wing' which was probably the Colt wing mentioned earlier.

Says it is a slope soarer, no warning about tow or bungee launching it but I would guess the structure is not up to that, chuck it off a hill only!

No, afraid not.

1/3 of the wing root chord back from the leading edge should be a safe starting point.

Try a hand launch on the flat first and wiggle the elevator, should give you a rough idea of the trim.

Good luck!
