Thanks! I used Monokote through the whole process, Transparent Violet, Flour Green, and White of course. I like covering airplanes

Looking at building another wing with ailerons, and without the second dihedral in the outer wing bays. The aerotowing is too much fun!

My understanding of aerotowing is that the ailerons are not needed, rather you use rudder. Could be wrong, I'm just getting into it myself. Scott

Most of my Spirit flying was on the slope, although I did use Hi-Starts and a winch a few times.
I've only aero-towed a ASK-21 behind a Carbon Cub a couple of times, it was interesting and a welcome challenge.

I've never felt the need for ailerons on a Spirit. I do build them with an extra inch of dihedral in the outboard wing panels, and the rudder is built with an extended trailing edge, about a half or 3/4 inch I guess, and the top third of the fin cut away and added to the rudder, to aerodynamically balance it a little. I think doing that helps relieve loads imposed on the servo and pushrod, and is likely a good thing due to the added area of the trailing edge.

These mods result in a very snappy response to rudder control, and allow smaller amounts of rudder deflection, probably only 25 or 30 degrees.

My Spirits often amazed those accustomed to ailerons, I could perform very fast rolls, and performing true axial rolls with an R/E glider is very challenging and, for me anyway, more satisfying than rolling with ailerons, which is just too easy, in my not-so-humble opinion.

In my Club, when we are towing RES planes, we put the tow line a bit back and under the fuselage, ....as I also see that you use.
This make the glider much more stable when towing, allmost as a soft highstart

Keep up the good spirit

Soren

I've only ever heard the opposite, don't tow an aileron-less glider haha.
