I used the intake ring aswell but had to cut a flat spot so the hatch would close. The intake was inserted into the intake ring. Worked perfect.

A couple more pics on page 67.
My L-59 weight about 3.5kgr without batteries. My edf unit is an Extreme RC with Wemotec rotor , HET 700 size motor and with 8 cell Lipo produce 3.7 to 4kgr of thrust. The problem is that my 8cell 5000mAh 40C weight 1.1kgr with total weight 4.6kilos. I would not have any problem durring the flight as I would have 4 kilos of thrust but would It be heavy the jet at landing or not? If I use only the 6cell Lipo the model would weight about 290gr less but the thrust from 4kilos would reduced to 2.5kilos and I think that the jet would be underpowered. I am not going to change my HK Lipos to less mAh as I already have the 5000mAh Lipos and the cost for replace them is too high. Which is your jet weight ready for flight? Do you have to suggest anything about it?

{My thrust is 4 kilos plus but I do not know if I have to go much faster for landing which would be a problem.}

I don't have a scale to weigh my jet but perhaps next I am at the hobby shop they will weigh it for me. I doubt it will be that unstable upon landing. The only thing you may need to worry about with that weight is do you have enough runway.

Mine with 6S 5300genace, wemo fan, ARC36-65-1 and a big heavy HW 150A opto ESC weighs 8lb12oz, or 3968g. The static thrust is not that much, around 5lb by pushing against the scale(probably not that accurate), but it flies fine with decent speed. I just took it out for a spin during lunch break after watching Urrl's video , my flying field is like 6min from my work.

How do you succeed only 3968g? I have an Extreme alloy-Wemotec fan with a HET 700 size 1680kv motor , Turnigy 120HV esc , Turnigy full metal retracts and HK 8cell 5000mAh 40C Lipos with a final weight of 4.8kg. The fan unit produced 3.7kg in the open and 2.9kg only inside the jet. I have lost 0.8kg of thrust and I could not find them. I do not know if 2.9kg of thrust are enough for a 4.8kg model.

Hey Manny, will you able to come out during lunch time? I found the best time to fly in Tomcats is around 12 to 2pm during weekdays. No air traffic, little wind, and sun is on your back.
Hey Anastasios, I actually consider mine a heavy 6s setup because of all the epoxy I dumped on the retract mount on the wing after the crash landing, probably weighs half pound lol..... I think yours should fly fine, the thrust is not the problem, it's the weight...Urrl has a good post on things you need to prepare for successful maiden, very useful.

thanks for sharing your vids. I would like to know what thrust/watts you are were flying with. Plus what retracts were you using.

thanks

wemo 90mm, with arc36-65-1 6S 5300genace, around 2.25kw, and 5-6lb of thrust with all the ducting installed. The retracts are the original CMP retracts designed for this model, I don't see anybody sells them anymore...They are OK if you have nice run way, not OK for grass take off.

Loopsy

My setup

HET -700-68-1400 Motor
Changesun 12 blade fan
YEP 120 amp ESC
2 X 4S 5000MAh battery ( 8cell Setup)
+AOA present using landing gear from HK which is recommended for this aircraft did not modify the LG in anyway so AOA should be ok spring in the nose gear is strong enough and bounces back.

Now after putting some though I think there could be 2 issues one is because the grass field is not level enough it bounces quite a bit and hence may be loosing speed that is required for takeoff, second I don't know but it feels like that power is not enough it makes quite a bit of noise but takes bit of effort even to start moving.Having said that i know this power combination has been used by quite a few people on this thread and is working fine

It just feels like there is something not right
Is it possible to tell me the weight of your L-59 ready to fly? I am asking you because mine with HET 700 68 1680kv motor , Extreme RC housing with Wemotec rotor , 8 cell 5000mAh HK Lipo and Turnigy full metal retracts weights 4.8 kilos and I think that it is heavy.
