Well Sunday was the last day of my three week hiatus (and for the record our Little League team went 2-1 in that period). So where's the updates? It seemed windy yesterday but I spoke to Ian briefly and he implied that it wasn't that great...

Any local plans to use this new foam?:

I am interested but right now they are shipping in boxes of 16 sheets I believe, and that too many for me alone.

Just a reminder, this weekend is the annual Planes of Fame air show. It's the biggest gathering of vintage FLYING warbirds in the U.S. and a must-see for warbird fans. I'll be there doing static display of the 'chang. Stop by and say hi if you make it out!

COOL! I've got a hangar pass for the show. As far as I knew it was just an airshow.
See you guys out there Saturday.

Among other incredible aircraft will be THREE flying Zero fighters. Not "Tora Tora Tora" T-6 replicas but actual Zeros, one of which has the original Japanese engines. This show is just an orgy of warbirds. I can't wait!

Finally got to meet Pete (Nanchang 78) face-to-face yesterday and of course I had a camera or two with me. Great to meet you, Pete, and we'll see you again today.

More photos from Chino HERE.

Not that Pete (or 'nother Pete, if you prefer)

Chino Airshow

Saturday was great! Tried to say hello to Pete a few times but he was very engaged in conversation each time.
My wife and oldest son went with me to the show, their first one, and they couldn't have seen much better
I had to wipe the tears from my eyes more than once
I do suggest if you go with a broken arm tbat is wrapped to the fingers that you bring something to keep the fingers cooler. We ended up having to leave shortly after the 3 mitchells started flying, although we did get the see the 20 something aircraft before we got out of the area

Gah, dang. Sorry I didn't get to see you. Doubly sorry because we were trying to get kids to come stand by the plane with the Chinese leather flying helmet to take pictures with it.

It's nice that people are curious and ask questions and I get to meet and talk to a lot of folks but it's a bummer that I also miss a lot of folks. I like to actively participate in the display of the plane rather than just parking it and leaving it.

It was great having the other Pete hanging out at our display and getting to talk to him!

That's James Bu's. Mine can be identified by having the large split flap on the bottom painted yellow.
