Old electric model boat

Hello All,
My father picked this up at a garage sale.
It is 32" long with a 12" beam 24" from keel to top of cabin.
She has 2 large lead keel weights for counter balance.
Power was some kind of electric motor, It had a working spotlight.
Power was transferred from the motor via belt to a line shaft that operated the working bilge pump and prop shaft.
This was some type of free sailing boat. Steering controlled by
a clockwork mechanism.

So the question is has anyone seen one of these before, I believe it to be a one-off built by a model builder for himself.
We found no identification of any type on board.

Someone put a lot of time in this, the line shaft has oil points to lube the shafts. Great care was taken in all the small details of this
some what Yacht model.

Thanks all,
Tim

looks like you are correct and it is a 1 off character model. Some interesting engineering done with what the builder had available at the time.

I LOVE it! Especially that scroll work...

DON'T touch a thing... maybe any big spider webs or dead birds, but leave all that "patina" in place, and don't "update" anything!

I agree with Pat.
Maybe clean it with a very gentle vacuum, but that's it.

Does it have access into the hull?
I'd like to see some pictures of the interior mechanics if you happen to take a couple. The clockwork controls sound very interesting.

Neat find!

Absolutely agree about leaving it as is. Tons of charisma and you just can't duplicate that. What a lucky find. How unfortunate that there is no date or builders name. It would be great to know who and when.

Great. What's the big gear on the left of the last pic? Maybe under that deck there might be some name or ID.

That is one neat model.
It looks to me like there is a small electric motor in the upper left hand corner of the photo.
A round leather belt is obviously missing.
And I can see just a bit of the clockwork gear too.
Some Minwax furniture polish may not hurt, but check on a small spot first.
She's going to be some sweet when you get her running again.

I don't pretend to even begin to know much about RC boats, but as far as that model goes, I would think it's worth much more as is than touched, restored or put in water again.

It's more like a piece of folk art or museum item.

If I were you and wanted a RC boat to build/use, I'd sell that and buy something that isn't irreplaceable. Or as mentioned, lightly dust and enjoy as is on a shelf and build a running copy of it.
