WELL....I hope this doesnt look too goofy looking.....

I had to make the motor look sort of real,so I spent about 12 hours on this part..again ....never thought it takes this much time, but everything is scratch built...

The intake is made from 1/4" wood dowel ,exhaust is from a thin plastic container and some Plastistrut tubes.

I had to paint the motor to match, and added the end screens so the ESC will get some cooling(its hidden in the cylinder head area)

I used thin stiff wire to hold the intake and exhaust assemblies to the case, twisted inside and glued. Holds well.

Not at all! Looks pretty damn spiffy!

One subject I'd like to model has an exposed engine that probably wouldn't be big enough to hide a motor, and your efforts have given me some inspiration.

The first pictures have the real motor in view somewhat. I need to post pics of the cuyuna so you can see my attempt to copy it. Crude....but effective.

I just didn't want to stick an outrunner on the back and call it even. But I didn't think it would take this long just to make a dummy. I guess Williams brothers decided not to model the Cuyuna UL2.....

Despite the real thing using a belt drive, I think your approximation is pretty good for the purpose. Throw a couple hoses, pipes and wires stuck all over it and it'll look even better!

Structure looks pretty lightweight. Are the spars spruce?

Spruce spars,,,probably could have used hard balsa. As a result,it is a little heavier than I wanted. I still have to add a few braces, and figure out how to do the wingtip.

They are added to the wing trailing edge after covering. They are not built into the wing.

I will wait for better weather ..even if it means waiting an extra month or two. I have too much time in this to be in a hurry to fly. I still have a long way to go....lot of fitting of the wing folding mechanisms..may have to re do the ones i have.
