Build Log
F4 for two edf55

Well I'm going to give this plane a try. I'm hoping for a weight of 20-22 ounces with a couple of CD motors installed in the back. I've built the ducting into the airframe which has been a real pain, but will make a strong light fuse.
Plane will be "Leave your glasses at home scale".

Cheers,

Looks great so far, looking forward to seeing it completed. Any ideas for the paint scheme yet?

Prob. paint it in Vietnam era camo, or maybe IDF. I also like the black bunny version but my eyes would not.

Looks awesome, How many winds are the cdr? What size wingspan are you aiming for?

Im building a 30" wingspan F4 not too sure about what type of power system im going to use. I was thinking about a 90mm fan, but it may be too big.

Looks great! Haven't heard from you in a while. I am at the painting stage of an Arado Blitz, inspired partly by yours. I have a picture of yours saved on my computer. Mine has Feigo 12mm with EDF 50's. Have you flown your Arado yet?

Nice! Are you going to be offering kits or plans?

Scratchandbash,
looks good and your 234 should fly well with the 12mm motors. I have not flown mine yet, because of other projects and have all my gear in othe planes.

Flyin Brick,
Wingspan is at 32" but I've fudged it because of the altitude I live at. Still not sure on CD winds yet, but I'm going to try to run both motors on one CC25 controller. I still need to experiment with my GWS A-10 thats been converted to CD motors

Rob,
Sorry no kits or plans, I'm just winging this one.

Thanks -- Stacker

Stacker is on the case! This should be good.

I've been eyeing a lot of JASDF (Japan Air Self Defense Force) schemes lately - they have a blue/blue scheme that's really pretty, and a lot of anniversary schemes.

Nice site I found on the F-4EJ:

Top "F-4" button has some great pics

Good luck!

Thanks Matt,
This plane has been around a longtime so there is plenty of different paint jobs to choose from.

Stacker, as for 2 motors on a single CC22, I have done it. My last build, an ME262 scratch build, has 2 Himax 2015-4100's on it. Several part throttle advances usually gets things going well. Just don't "giggle" if they don't start immediately, as you are probably aware of. Once running, you can drop to a very slow RPM before they drop out. Experimenting with several different controllers, the Castle was the only one that would get 2 motors started. I have even talked with Castle service, which is aware that people are succesfully doing this, although they don't push the idea.

Hi Stacker,

Another great start, what are you going to run in the 55's, bl or stock?

Cheers,

Eric,
I'm going to use cd kits. I've almost switched totaly over to brushless now. I flew my little 262 a couple of weeks ago and both brushed motors gave up the smoke at the same time, so I've decided to give up on brushed motors on all new planes.

Scratchandbash,
I'm already running my A-10 on two cd 55s on one CC10 controller, It's been working real well and starts every time. From all that I've read the outrunners seem to work the best on one controller. I'm thinking of converting the BV188 over to cd motors and trying four motors on one controller, but thats prob pushing my luck.

Thanks again --Stacker

Ok, I did not see that in the previous posts, I do know that it is the best decision as the bl motors can take more watts without giving up the "smoke".

Cheers

I've made a little progress. I hope to have the fuse all glued together this week and try to start wing next week. Fuse should start looking better once the final sanding and air intakes are installed.
