2013 Pacific Northwest Aerotow Schedule

2013 is already upon us, and some of the event dates are starting to come in, so it's time to post the 2013 Pacific Northwest Aerotow Schedule for all aspiring aerotow junkies in the region.

The aerotow events shown here are for the Pacific Northwest, i.e., the upper left corner of the USA, including western and eastern Washington, Oregon, Northern CA, and British Columbia. Other events, such as in California and the other Western States, will also be included, for those who like to travel with their gliders. As the calendar matures, additional events will be added, and dates will be confirmed as firm commitments come in from the event hosts.

Please feel free to add news and updates to this thread on an ongoing basis. This is the place to ask for details, such as directions and accommodations, etc., from our veteran attenders. All dates are subject to change, so check back here often for updates (I will keep the list of events up-to-date by editing this Post Number One as required). So let's start sending in those invites and announcements! See all you glider addicts at the segelflugschleppens throughout the 2013 season. --- Don Bailey, glider junkie

Yakima Aerotow May 31, June 1-2

Yakima will happen a few weeks farther into spring this year, which portends warmer nights for the campers among us, and hugely massive lift during the prime soaring hours. "Disappointment Field" offers open horizons and world-class thermal lift in all quadrants, so don't hesitate to bring your heavies to this event. Contact CD Gene Cope ("justhuman" on RCGroups) for more info.

Aerotow in Alberta....

They will be an aerotow event in Alberta july 4,5 and 6.

That event will be hold at the CARFF site in Red Deer http://www.carff.ca/field.asp

It will focus on aerotow but other type of sailplane will fly too.

The field is located in Red Deer about 60 mi north of Calgary. Here is the exact location of the field

They field is in the middle of a nice flat area about 5 minutes east of the town. Lodging is not a problem at all, ton of hotel and restaurant.

That week end was allocated to us by the club committee and will be officially closed to power plane other than tug. From my last years experience, that rule if some time broken but we never by big IMAC 200cc acrobatics plane

The Calgary Stampede also start during that week end, 10 days of festivities in the city for the one of you that want to come and visit.

I know it's a long trip for you and it's certainly also during the 4th of july long week end.

If you are interested and want more info please feel free to contact me.

I forgot to tell, for the event in Alberta, camping is possible on site.

No service but the available area is big.

Hey, gang, its time again for the Ted and Bob show in Lewiston!

Second annual Lewiston Aerotow event, out at Mann Lake, on April 20-21. Nice paved runway with large mown-grass borders, camping on the field, and plenty of lift all around!

See attached flyer for more info.

Lewiston aerotow is just 3 weeks away........I was at the field this weekend and it is in magnificent condition. Better get some chatter going so Ted and Bob know they aren't going to be a two man show.

Historically the third week in April, Lewiston will be in the mid 70's with lots of sun and beautiful soaring conditions on the shore of Mann's Lake. A new crop of fall wheat has been planted on the East side of the field so the views are green and expansive. Lots of amenities in Lewiston if you are not into camping at the field.
Ted would like to hear from all of you that are planning to attend so he can get an idea of how much work Bob has to do to prepare............

Ida and I will be there Friday afternoon until Sunday with the Yakima Mule for towing. Last year was great with blue skies and good weather. Ted and Bob are great hosts, so come on out and enjoy the big sky country of Idaho.

Mission Event date change

The Mission Aerotow will be held on August 23-25th this year, please note date change. The previous weekend is a music festival in the town of Mission, so no lodging available, hence the date change.

August is sunny and beautiful in the Pacific NW, so bring your floaters and boomer-busters for some good blue-thermal shredding at Anderson Sod Farm. For more information (directions, lodging, etc.) contact Doug Aldridge on this thread.

I would love to come but these old bones unfortunately can't take 10 or 11 hours driving anymore.
