Cheyenne, Wyoming

I will be moving to the Cheyenne, WY area from the suburban Chicago, Il region in about six months (as soon as they can get our new home built).
we have 140 acres of flyable property about 20 minutes ESE of Cheyenne.
I look forward to getting back into RC now that I am retired. I plan on flying electric.
I'd be happy to here from anyone in the Cheyenne area who is flying electric RC.

Glad to see you made the decision to move out here. I have been here for 10 years, and love it!

I cant speak for everyone in the area, but i honestly dont know of many people here who are into electrics. Usually when you think electric, you think smaller planes. The wind here can be pretty tough at times. Thats not to say you cant built a good size electric plane. Id say if you bought a little foamy, you might fly it 10 days a year. Let us know when you get out here!

Electric in wyoming

Hi thanks for the input. Yep, I know it is windy in WY. When I was in the Air Force I was stationed for some time in Rapid City, SD. Same thing! We flew Early morning and evening when the wind was usaally lighter. I'w looking at a 48" Bronco OV10 from www.nitroplanes.com
Ron.
P.S. So far we have only a hole in the ground where our house will be. Our address will be "Carpenter" we have 140 acres. Plenty of room to fly!

Hi. Our new home is just under construction. Foundation in. We don't expect it will be ready by the time our 14 year-old son will be starting high school in Burns. That could be a problem if our present home sells too soon! We won't have a place to live. We have 140 acres of the 3600 acre Remington Ranch off of Chalk Bluff Rd.

I spent 6 years in Cheyenne and my in-laws still live there. I'm down in Colorado Springs now though. Hope you find some local flyers and have calm winds!

Take care,
Mike

USAF Thunderbirds Emergency Landing at Cheyenne Airport

On Monday, July 25th, 2011 my wife and I were watching the USAF Thunderbirds prepare for their practice demonstration in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The main air show is on Wednesday, July 27th for Cheyenne Frontier Days.

After watching the #1, #2, #3, and #4 planes take off successfully, the #5 & #6 planes turned around and got off of the runway. About a minute later the #3 plane made an emergency landing with a wingman coming in above and beside him.

I have tried searching for information related to the emergency landing but haven't found anything yet. Thankfully, the pilot and plane both returned to the airport unharmed.

Thank you United States Air Force Thunderbirds for your service!

Take care,
Mike

Is that Cahill Park? My in-laws live near there. I've taken my Micro T28 up there for our last two trips and surprisingly the wind has been kind enough to let me fly it most every evening!
