Ailerons to Easystar Phoenix 2.5

I'm wanting to add ailerons to the Easystar on my Phoenix 2.5, I've read about it being done but am having trouble

If someone could provide step by step details on how to add them it would be much appreciated

I used the instructions from Phoque.

Steps: (Or... If you are lazy, and just want to use my moddified variant, I've attached it below.)

1. Create an EasyStar Variant called "Aileron".

2. Under "Control Surfaces" change "Minimum Aileron Travel" degree to 35* (or what ever you prefer.)

3. Change "Maximum Aileron Travel" to 35*

4. At the bottom, unmark the "Swap Rudder --> Aileron Channel".

5. Follow Planex's instructions.

  2. Scroll all the way down
  3. Add the following, right before "end":
The .pxv file can be opened with MS Notepad.
After copying and pasting the code (below) to the easystar_Aileron.pxv right before "end", make sure to save the moddified file without changing the file name.

Code:
newObjectType.controlSurfaces ={
	"elevator", "__helper_e1","__helper_e2","__helper_e3", "elevator",
	"rudder", "__helper_r1","__helper_r2","__helper_r3", "rudder",
	"left_aileron", "__helper_la1","__helper_la2","__helper_la3", "left_aileron",
	"right_aileron", "__helper_ra1","__helper_ra2","__helper_ra3", "right_aileron",
}
When copying the above code, make sure to include the last character, "}".

6. In the Phoenix Sim, select the variant "Aileron" under EasyStar.... and fly!

7. I also increased the Brushless Thrust to 1.8, increased Rudder and Elevator throw*

8. Remember, every time the aileron variant is edited, the "easystar_Aileron.pxv" file has to be modded with the above code and saved again.

Edit: WOW! The the aileron modded EasyStar is a totally different plane! It is so much better than just rudder/elevator. A really big thanks, Phoque!

Thanks heaps

I tried the exact same thing but it just wouldn't work. I used your file instead and it worked perfect, much appreciated

So much better to fly with ailerons, feels like my bixler now just a lot more agile

What's this Bixler you speak of? Now I wish I had a plane that flies as nice as the EasyStar with the ailerons in the sim.

Edit: Ahhh I found a vid.

With Phoenix 4.0k
Modifying a stock brushless easystar then applying Phoque's instructions to the "whatevername.pxv" give a working plane.
Remenber that you have to apply instructions each time that you click "end" in the modification panel.
I did it yesterday ! I'm waiting for an Easystar II and the modded model (even not perfect) is better for training.
I hope that someday, the new Easystar II will show-up in Phoenix.

if you give your recording EasyStar_Aileron_Variant.pxr should be displayed so beautifully that they go wings
But not me, I tried to throw the rudder / aileron but still nothing

but I have version 4 .0.m Phoenix RC

Has anyone yet made the bixler for Phoenix or realflight?

Thanks guys!

Bringing up an old thread probably, but I am trying ot get a model that is very similar to the Bixler 2 flying characteristics. Phoenix RC is now up to 5.0.i and the previous variants are no longer valid. I started with a base Easystar model and added Ailerons in the Model edit mode with values that "looked" right on the model representation.

Has anyone else done this and flown a Bixler2 to know that the "feel" is right? I even added some downward thrust angle on the prop to be more realistic.

Edit: Adding my variant in case anyone wants to test it.
