what lipos for aveox 2726/1.5

looking for a lipo pack to run this set up
aveox 2726/1.5 geared 3.3 to 1
12x6 apc prop
motocalc suggests 43.8 amps

I've had good luck with thunderpower so far, but not sure what configuration I should get.
I was thinking 8000 mah 3s3p, but not sure if the bats cand handle the amps. Any thoughts?

TP8000

I think you mean the 3S4P TP8000. It should be able to handle the current. I have Aveox 27/26/1.5 with 4.3:1 GB turning 13X8 APCE. The set up pull about 46-47 Amp static and the battery voltage is at around 10.3V according to the Wattmeter.

However, I think your set up is going to pull 50+ amp rather than the 43.8 amp you are talking about.

I dont see why you couldnt use 3s2p irate 2200
at 15 C burst you are within limits (start with a smaller prop) and super light.

Yup, Ian, you are right, I have them in 2P and get the 40A.
For another small security margin take the 2600 Irate in 2P, it will be light and perfect.

So you have been pushing thos irates at the 10-15c as advertised with no ill effects yet? I do realize that unloading in flight will dramatically lower amp draw, but I like to error on the safe side due to the price and fragile nature of lipos. I may have to give them a try.

these cells are great

they are also cheap.

Quote:
IRATE-LP2200
3.5 x 2.2 x 0.15 -- 1.5 oz.(42.53g)

1- LP Cells. (3.7volts)

These have aluminum positive tabs. So you need Aluminum solder paste to solder them. 8C normal, 10C race, 15C short short bursts. Use at own risk

$18.50
3sx2p = 9 oz pack + wires etc = $111

I have the same motor 27/26/1.5y
and a maxon 4.4:1

looks good, especially as at 15 C burst is 66 amps !!!!!
I doubt i would ever prop past 55 amps. I have run this motor direct drive proped for 60 amps static fed by 10 cells.

on a 14x7 and 4.4:1 MC predicts 95oz thrust @ 53 amps 46 mph pitch speed great for 3d style stuff. now if you could only get the weight down to around 30 oz :-0

I agree 2600 cells would be even better for this application. I bought 6 cells and made 2x3s packs primarily for a hacker b20L but also with the aveox in mind as another useful application, actually considering at 66 amps burst and 10 volts they make 10x1700 cp look very obsolete. I will probably keep using my 10 x1700 packs for motors drawing 60-80 amps I am concerned about the ability of the tabs not to melt at these draws.

be careful about the 15C,: for big cells, there is a limit that tabs can support. tests show that they are better below 25A, (20A continuous) otherwise they can come red quickly and be irremediably damaged...

I agree totally about the 25 amp rule of thumb for the tabs.

25 amps per pack in 2p pack is about 50 amp. I like to prop quite heavily but fly with a lot of throttle management so my average is well below recommended max cont. the best real guage of this average is how much flight time VS battery capacity.

for example I have been running e-tec 1200's at 12.5 amps static. They are still cool when I land over 20 mins latter. this breaks all the static draw recommendations but works perfectly. The only bad cell I have had was one that got mashed on the concrete on a bad arrival :-)

Sure, I don't know why, but these cells don't like too much the concrete, something to improve in future generations...

I think I may give them a try. Can you buy pre made packs, or do you have to build the packs yourself? I don't feel to comfortable about building my own lipo pack i have a hard enough time soldering the deans conectors.

For the time being, cells, either loose or in built packs, are out of stock. Will be there in 1 to 2 weeks.
If you are not comfortable, buy already built packs (both will be available), don't take your chance, it is still rather expensive.
