Awesome models! I would like to build the Vampyr except with warping ailerons.

Merci beaucoup for posting this and for the Retroplane 2013 link. What an outstanding collection of vintage aircraft and pilots! An absolute feast of scale sailplanes, coupled with a beautiful location, good food, plenty of wine and a fascinating group of participants - it must have been a very special event.

Do you know the history of this event? How long has it been running, how did it begin etc ?

Hi "fishbed" we organize this event since 2005, this year it was the 9th edition
http://www.retroplane.net/retroplane2005/
http://www.retroplane.net/retroplane2006/
....change the end ... 2008/ ... 2009/ ..... until 2013/
on every page there is the report

The event was born with the retroplane's forum and the need to meet us
all participants are the builder of their gliders, the rules of this event are here http://www.retroplane.net/retroplane/criteres.htm
Every year we try to find a different beautiful slope in Europe

Vincent,
Thanks for taking the time to share this report. As others have already said this is an event with outstanding planes, venue, people and concessions. I enjoyed the photos of participants. It was very entertaining to see some of them in period dress. For me, modelling has become as much about the people involved as the models. It appears everyone had a wonderful time.

Outstanding once again! I look forward to seeing this report each year, and visit your site frequently. You have inspired me to tackle my own scale sailplane build, so thank you.

Now if I could just figure out how to combine LeMans, the Tour de France, and Retroplane in one visit, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
