My First Build Log, First Peter Rake, First Biplane...too many firsts...
Hi Boys!!!!
As you will sewe itīs my first build log of a semi scale plane. It will be my first Biplane and my first P. Rake design. Iīm not sure If I will finish this "bird" someday" but I really enjoy working on it. Im sure I will needing all your help to make it. I īve been a modeller since my youth, always making from plans, and a couple of rubber kits (that never flew). I have to wait until some years ago to get into radio control because of its costs. I made all my RC models from scracht: - one trainer (.40 cubic inches engine) - 2 low wing models (similar engines) - several sailplanes, motorgliders and 1/2 models. All of them were not so well built but all of them flew. Iīm also a "bad" pilot, my best aerobatics are rolls and loopings, and thats all. ![]() My real interested is in scale planes so I decided to start working on them. I started several months ago working on the FK- 24 BABOON. ![]() If you are looking for a well done model...you are not on the right place...just look at here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...er+rake+baboon and you are going to save a lot of time. ![]() This are some of the first pictures of the fuselage. pd: sorry for my bad english... CHEERS to ALL you, Paul.

Paul - thanks for the nice words
I was very much a beginner when I built that Baboon but despite some imperfect construction, it flew very well! You have started well but be careful with the fuselage alignment - the tail post looks very slightly angled. This does not really matter as long as the tailplane seat is sanded to be level with the wings. Please ask any questions you like and I'm sure you will get advice ![]() Happy building Pat PS - your english is much better than my Spanish ! |

Looks good, Paul.
Doesn't matter if you're a good pilot (I'm not that great either) as long as the building is fun. For me, building is where I get the most enjoyment out of the hobby. The flying is just to prove all my ideas actually work...or don't . I pretty much loose interest in a plane once it's built and flown.

Paul,
I've been looking at your photos and trying to decide if the fuselage curves in at the tail. In one it seems to, but looks like sharp angles in the others. If it does curve, cracking the longerons at the front of TSP, like shown on the plan, may help to straighten the fuselage. The Baboon was a very angular aircraft, with hardly a curve to be seen. Thanks a lot to be also here !!! ![]() I didnīt know about cracking the longerons on the plan (I didnīt see it). So I have started a "microsurgery": I cut TSP and take it over, Iīm going to crack the tail longerons and re-align it. Here are more photos so as to take better conclusions, but it seems that it will work. Do you suggest something different ??? ![]() Cheers to all you, Paul.
