1S Battery Comparison
A simple battery discharge test was run using three common 1S batteries:
Eflite 150 mAh 45C
Lectron Pro 180 mAh 45C
Miniaviation 220 mAh 45C
The batteries were discharged beginning at 2.0 Amps and increasing every 0.2 Amps until the battery could not support the discharge current and would drop below the low voltage cutoff of the charger. The batteries were discharged using an Orbit Microlader and logged using the Orbit Microlog. Between each discharge cycle the batteries were allowed to cool and then recharged at a 1C rate on a Hitec X4 Micro Multi Charger. The batteries were checked at end of test and showed no degradation in capacity from the testing.
Figure #1 shows the discharge current to capacity relationship. It is interesting that the Miniaviation battery has a different shape of the curve than the Lectron Pro and Eflite batteries. It may be that the batteries use differing technology.
Figure #2 shows the same discharge information but with the X axis as the Battery C rating plotted against the battery capacity. All three batteries make a 45C capability claim but the highest performing battery is the Eflite at about 25C and the Lectron Pro cannot even support 17C.
Overall the Miniaviation battery, with its greater capacity could be considered the most capable of the three as it will perform at the highest current rates. For output at light weight the Eflite battery, with its superior C rating performance could be considered best. The Lectron Pro battery just did not measure with the other two in this testing.
