I'd much rather lose one that way than say, equipment failure, plane fly away, no control, etc.

I installed the expansion pack that has the 51" Slick but it kinda sucks, even after playing with all the settings. Could someone point me in the direction of a decent flying (Realflight 6.xx) 3DHS 71" & 89" slick model.

Check the variants on the swap pages. I'm pretty sure Tominator has a good variant for a Slick.

Exactly. I had two heli crashes in a short period of time a couple months back, first one was a battery failure while the second was a dumb thumb. You generally learn something from a dumb thumb while equipment failure can make you feel helpless.

This is very true. It's especially true if it happens on the first couple flights.

anyone use the Lipos sold by Value Hobby, GForce and GForce Elite? Looking for any feedback from users who used the 30C, 40C and the 60C. It would be even better if you have compared them to Hobby Partz Lipos (GenAce, SKy Blue, etc.)

yep - I've used them both (I have some GForce and some GensAce) - I think they are very comparable...some others might say that GensAce are a bit better, but I've had good/equal experiences with them both, especially the 40C GForce lipos. As an added bonus, the GForce lipos come with Deans connectors, and they recently started offering a 5.5mm bullet connector as an alternate connector option.

I've used some of the smaller packs; 25/30C, 3S, 1800 and 2200 mAh Lipo's. I haven't had any issues with them and have had them in service for about a year. I also have comparable GensAce with roughly the same service time. I can't tell any difference in charge time, balancing is equivalent and both brands seem to deliver the same amount of power and flight time to the ESC/motor. I've recently started using the Glacier packs (sold by EP Buddy) and early indications seem to show that they will be minimally as good as GensAce.

Once thing with the GForce packs, 3C is the max charge rate per Alex at Value Hobby.

I got the GForce 30C 3S 2200s and don't like them. They are always triggering my low voltage alarm in the 1st minute of flight, which tells me they're sagging too much under load. My Gens Ace 25C 2200 and Sky Lipo 40C 2200s don't set off my low voltage alarm at all until after my timer goes off. They're my bench test batteries now.

BTW: My 3S 2200 Nanotechs and the PA v2 battery also set off my alarm in the first minute of flight.

I didnt have good luck with the gforce 25c and 40c. My 60c ones are holding up well
