best price on cheapie esc's in U.S

Hello Y'all,

Any recommendations on the cheapest place to buy power systems (ESC's/motors/batteries)? I want to go with unitedhobbies.com, but their reputation for very tardy shipping and atrocious service realy frightens me. Not to mention that if I get a defective product (chances are higher with cheapies) then it will be hell getting it taken care of.

He has been out of stock for a while but that should be temporary. I have some of the ESCs he sells (18 and 30 amp) and have been satisfied with them. I also have a ton of the Lipos he sells. 2050 and 1350, both have been great. Have had a little swelling on a couple, but I think that was self induced by learning fly time on fast jets and the one 1350 that is swollen got mixed up in my charged stack after it had been flown. I know this happened due to the extremely short fly time I had on it. The other packs are like bricks and have plenty of power.

Yup, 4S will be the way to go....raise the voltage and keep the damaging amps lower for a substantial overall increase in power.
Esc's are starting to be rated for 4S as well, such as Don's Pentium 40 esc.

I've had some swelling in my 2050's from Don and I attribute this to running them at around 30 amps in an Aerocat. The price is right on these cells though.

So for '08 I'll be looking for 4S packs that are rated 25C or higher which just means that maybe they will give an honest 20C while remaining cool, along with 40amp and higher esc's that can handle 4S or 5S packs and which have at least a 2.5 amp BEC.

Just a natural progression for this fantastic hobby of electric flight..!

Oh, to stay on topic, I got a couple of those Dynam 70 amp OPTO esc's from "dealextreme" for $29.95 each, with free shipping. Hopefully they will at least handle 50 amps with cooling..!

Got a couple of Don's esc's and they are working out great. The tiny one has taken a beating in my HyperFlea and is still rocking.

I forgot to mention, if you are looking for good prices on well known ESC brands, check Toddsmodels.com. He is great to deal with also. Don and Todd are my two favorite online stores by far. I am a big fan of millenniumrc.com too, but doesn't really apply here
