Question
What motor for an ARF BoT?

I fell for her again...

After dorking in my much loved Bird of Time, and a suitable (4 year) period of mourning, I am going the same route again.
I had an AXI 2820/10 swinging a 12x6 prop on a 2200 3S lipo.
In my "spare & undamaged" drawer I found a Turnigy 3548 1100Kv and a Turnigy 3548 800Kv.

Continuing with the 2200 3S I think the 800Kv would be better suited for a 12x6 or even 13x6.

What do you think?

I would go with the 800kv as I have the Turnigy G15 710kv in mine and it gets it up there fairly well.

My 2c worth

Do a search for "I've got a BoT". It's the build thread of my first one.

I did and have it bookmarked. That was 7 years ago. Curious about any updates.

It still is the same ARF. I'm going to build mine the same as last time, apart from a larger bellcranck, and made from a 2mm carbon fiber plate, and possibly longer but narrower airbrakes.

I was going with 2 bay spoilers after reading all the reviews about the BOT dropping like a brick.

I stripped all the Monokote off it - adding my own design in Ultracote.

My experience was that at the size I had them (2 bays wide, 4 cm deep) she did not "drop like a brick". I'll probably go for 3 bays wide and 2.5 cm deep.

That's what I did with my first one in the end as well. Wasn't too fond of the puky orange, but also because of the all white wing bottom. A serious design flaw. Just couldn't see her well at a distance at speck height.
BoT II will probably get this scheme again, but more white on top...

I went 4 bays wide by 1", very effective but not knee knocking scary. Also stripped her down and recovered, didn't like the orange creamsicle look. Power was a Rimfire 3548-1100 with a 14 x 6 Aeronaut. Last pic is from a dive through a stand of hickory trees, may she rest in peace.

Climb out with Rimfire and 2200 mah 3S lipo

Watt-Bot (0 min 22 sec)

Yeah, I remember that (crashed) pic. Sad. Didn't save that one but I have all your images in my BOT folder. Ok I'll try 3 bays X 1 in. That should do it. Looks better than 2 bays anyway. Here's my wing's color design top and bottom. I was inspired by the Taylorcraft (cream and red).
