When I was talking with some of the guys running outrunners, they were saying the 3026 series works good but you have to be carefully not to slam the plane into the turns,as the stator can hit the magnets.A few said it was worth cutting the nose back a bit more (for CG) and go with the 3226 if hard turn were desired.I think it weights about 23 to 28 grams more, and the 3026 is 37mm in diameter as compaired to the 40mm 3226 series. You should have a look at the F5D outrunner thread,Marius T did a real sweet setup with a 3026 series motor.

OK guys, one of the motors I am considering that I have quite a bit of experience with running fast, turning hard and re-winding is from HK Turnigy 500 H3126 http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=28132

They have a 1600KV version but since I would rewind with heavier wire and this is available in the US I'd start with this. The rewind I'd do is 1600KV and the bearings would be changed to semi ceramics or ABEC 5's.
On 4S and a 7 x 13 it should do close to 200 and 5S should be a blast.

When I order these motors I get two or three and check the magnets and balance and choose the best one. Although I haven't had the first bit of trouble out of them even stock.

Interesting choice, and something I've been thinking about too. Not for my X but another airframe. I have the same motor and have been running it in a foamy for quite some time at about 1900W on 5S (APC7x8 sport). Complete stocker and so far the best motor I ever got from HK.
One thing I like about it for this type of application is that the mounting plate is significantly smaller than the bell, making it possible to mount in slimmer fuselages than you would normally need for this size motors.

I agree. This motor is a real sleeper in that not many folks know about them. I was running at about 1800W WOT on 5S for over a minute 30 every time I flew on a modified 8x8 APC.
Unlike Scorpions it is easier to get the stator off the bearing tube to rewind.
I have been very impressed with them.

out runner

This motor is similar to the HK 1600kv but IMO it better.

My friend has this Align motor in his 500 heli on 6s 5000mAh and he hammers it full
3D every flight,
and it never says no. This may be a budget mini pyro motor.

looks nice, but is 3-4 times more expensive, so it should be better..
