AMA Card sticking to wallet?

I just pulled out my AMA card for the first time in a long while... and it ... stuck. I have a reasonably nice leather wallet, and the AMA card firmly was attached to the inside of one of the leather pockets. I had to use a snap-blade hobby knife to remove it. No damage to either party, which was a good thing.

I imagine it had to do with the lamination not being very resilient, and during normal use and 100+ degree days working in the desert, slowly impregnated its laminate with the porous leather.

Anyone else had this happen? I would definitely pay $5 to have the option of getting a plastic card instead one of these paper thingies.

Yeah, good point. My wife has a lamination machine at work... Will give it a try.

How do you re-order AMA cards? I don't want to be stuck without one if I screw mine up

You can probably just give them a call and I am assuming they will send you another. Just to be safe I guess you can call them first to make sure they really would. Or just do it on last year's card first...

... three days ago.

I just like having it in my wallet - I keep it in front... It impresses ones not in the RC community

Not slow it, but provide a # for joining a club.

I don't know if I like it yet

I'm going to get some odorless epoxy this evening and try to glue the paper version to a plastic backing, then probably add a laminating film over that.

I don't know why - I hardly ever use it, but I like when people ask about it

In my case, it's not the card that sticks, it's the ink used to print the name and AMA number. If I peel it out of the clear plastic pocket, the ink remains inside the plastic, and the card now has badly distorted printing. AMA has, for years, "experimented" with different card stock and printing techniques, and IMHO, has yet to find a durable combination. I have my AMA cards from 50 years ago that remain in better condition than those from the last several years. I'd gladly pay extra for something of better quality.
