Very cool. Looks like weather was nice. Hoping this weekend holds true to the forecast and has a nice pretty day. I think I'll go maiden the Extra 260 at the Grantsville Flats.

Extra 260 (Re) Maiden at Lehi this week.

Aeroworks 35cc DL50 Extra 260 Crash, Rebuild and Re-Maiden (3 min 10 sec)

Worked great but my 2nd landing was a bit harsh. It has the wimpy stock landing gear and they flexed enough to allow the prop to strike the pavement . I'll have to land a little quicker but I'll probably upgrade back to the carbon fiber landing gear too. Those were damaged in the original crash.

Well, your first landing was a dandy.

It was adequate I guess

I've been a bit landing timid because I keep having issues with that Revolver. It took me 4 passes to get it going slow enough to fit on the runway before I flew the 260. Turns out I had the throttle trim too high and it was still pulling a fair bit of thrust even with the throttle all the way down. Took the entire runway to get stopped. So in my mind I keep thinking I need to go a little bit slower than I actually need to.

I have a question about the UVA flying field. The UVA site reads:

"AMA Insurance Required
Everyone is welcome to fly at the UVA field, members or non-members.
The county only requires that a current AMA Insurance is required to fly."

But when you read about UVA membership it talks about a key being issued to members. So when is the gate open to us that have AMA but are not UVA members?

I have some gas planes that I need a site I can go to because it seems all the UFO sites all only allow electric. Do I have that correct?

I would really like to find a gas site in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley, but there doesn't appear to be one.

I wonder if this KSL MicroCast site might be closer to the UVA field?

When I checked it out it hadn't been updated for two days. It might be closer but the weather underground should be live data. Although, there are lots of days I check the weather underground site and it says no data... like if it's broken or something.

Anyway, to answer your other question. You can always walk in to the UVA field if nobody is there to open the gate. That's a pain of course. Most weekends and evenings in the summer I'd bet the gate is open though. You can always just join and get a key too of course

You'll need to be there when a member with a key is present.

I wonder if tomorrow morning is going to be nice. I think it'll be cool but perhaps not terribly windy. Time to get the 50cc w/ smoke going.

Yeah I got a couple electrics

I'm curious on the heli thing. really. I know the heli would crash if you hit it. The blades would shatter instantly for one.. I wonder if they'd do damage to the electrical stuff on the wing? Maybe we could start a lipo fire right in mid-air.

If we try that I'd get one hit... not a huge return on investment but like I said... as long as we did it on video I think I'm game.

Make sure Ken is there to get in in HD video.
If you decide to go for it we need at least three decent camera angles

It could get lucky and take out a battery or esc- we lose them to a prop strike every once in a while, most likely the big blade would just bounce off though. Sounds like UFO kind of fun!
