Thanks .. yes that one is working excellent in depron, but I still have to decide between that design or a more accurate Nutbal/Cap/UFO cross
Ive just worked this out.. The cross bracing under the W will stop the wobble I had on my last version of the Nutball Folder..

Now with larger sections the area is also increased, so the wing loading will be lower
The previous nutball was 26" dia so 3.6sqft... Although only 26" long this effectivly has a full extra 26"x13" section and gives 5.9sqft

Ive just flown the mid size version of the foamie test model...Its really great, so the next job must be to do the kite version..

videos here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...8&postcount=13

edit have bought some CF so the kite will follow soon..meenwhile I made a smaller foam version of the more accurate cross to see what is the best flier..
Now I have to finish it and make a flying comparison... Its going to have to be something very special to be better than the ones I already have..

I have also ventured into a new kite design. Here's the CF airframe - 45 gm so far...

I hope that one flys as well as it looks.....A very nice job..

Doing better than me.. Ive got problems, the centre "V" of the "W" is made, but because the idea is that it folds flat , what would normally be bound and solid joints are all moveable and the whole unit can be very easily twisted front going opposite to the back..so its all too loose and floppy...
My only idea at the moment is to assemble it on holiday then bind and glue it solid ..then cut off the bindings when the holiday is done..
Yes ive decided to go that way, so job next is to cut back those blue bearing tubes and bind it solid there, and atthe white quick link fixtures..

edit... I maidened the smallest "W" wing with perfect semicircular tips and for reasons unknown it is "Cr**" ..I cant figure why its not stable when the heart shaped wings were so good... so heart shaped it is..

I imagine heartshaped is better than semi circular because the best ailerons have the hinge line at right angles to the airflow. Same with elevators. As the hinge line turns towards the front it's going to start having other, unwanted consequences. You're trying to change the camber of the wing as you move elevator/aileron panels up and down.

How does that sound?

It looks nice on the ground, but thats cheating!

You won't be able to get the jet "plumes" effect in the air!

Indeed! Hehehe...

However, there are plans to add two maybe one Green Lazer on it after it's successful maiden this weekend. Will be a nice Green Streak to the ground when flying...

I will add my congratulations.. thats a beauty all lit up

No its not the elevons, what the angle does on circular wing shapes is to give more control surface and much better roll.. Try it and see.. the small one requires a COG a lot more forward.. 25% is the neutral spot...today I flew again and found ive also managed to get the thrust lines off..so out comes the knife and I will get it sorted..

I could not wait till the weekend. Sneaked out to a nearby field to fly the kite. Flew perfectly with the guessed CG (Comparing with other kites). Had a blast! Finished 5 packs and went home a happy man...
