I particularly liked that part. 2 Swiss and 1 French gal on vacation and never heard of Comic-con.

I'm still looking for the horse inside my 3D Flyguy.

I was flying my 41" Flyguy this morning and my buddy was saying how good it really looks up in the air and how everyone at the park was watching. Even the groundskeeper came up to us to say that he got it on video and how his kid will be happy to watch it when he gets home. They both agreed it'll be a lot cooler if Flyguy was a bit bigger. "Oh, I'm currently building a full-size one" I said. "Is it gonna be 6 feet tall?" my friend asked ... and I answered ...

Nah, he's Asian like me - so about 5' 2"

The issue is really costs....... hours to make and price to ship. A hand carved RTF would be in the 5-10k range. A machine carved could significantly cut the cost, in volume, but the shipping/crating cost would still be in $1000 range. I may tackle a build log this winter for those who want to take a shot at making one.

I just ordered my fly guy kit and will be building it for Burning Man. If all goes well I will film it over Black Rock City with my hexacopter AP rig.

I may mod this for FPV if I have time.

That will be cool. Just follow the build log and he'll fly fine.

Lots of LEDs! Maybe a row of addressable ones, designed to spell out messages as it flies forward. This is possible, and I can find out more from a friend who was telling me about a string of LEDs where each one was addressable, probably like Prophy-bus or Device Net.

Well I'm about halfway there. My concept calls for lightweight fabric for a robe and possibly a wig. Would this add too much weight? I bought a 9x7 triple and a Turnigy D3536/8 1000KV motor. No plans for FPV gear to start but probably a keychain cam.

The wig I've used came from party city for $12 and is not too heavy. That weight is in front and helps balance. The wig and robe will create a lot of drag. I recommend you do these things in increments; the wig, a short robe and then the full robe. I would be concerned about the aerodynamic changes caused by the robe.

Thanks Otto, I am going to take your advice and keep it simple to start.

Here's a shot I took of my painters last night.
