Looks good! The twin aileron servos will let you have flaperons. Have fun playing with them but you will probably need some elevator mix like I do. I still don't have it right but you should be able to slow it way down with flaps. Keep us updated.

Moved the lipo forward and took her up for another flight. Much better but I may have to cut into the le to have enough space for the 4s pack I was planning to use. Good job I used a beefy cf arrow shaft for the spar.
I was able to open her up but getting excessive flutter. I think it's because I used ball joints at the servo end. Changed for nylon control links so hope this will cure the problem.
Time to add some colour.

Motor choice

Hi all. I'm planning on building this cool plane. I was wondering if this motor would be OK as I have it on hand from a downed GP DR1:

Rimfire 28-30-950 Brshlss Mtr
Diameter:
30 mmLength:
950 rpmRPM/V (Kv):
54 gWeight:
7.4 - 14.8 VInput Voltage:
14 AMax Consant Current:
20 AMax Surge Current:
155 WMax Constant Watts:
.7 ANo Load Current:
9x3.5S - 12x6SProp Range:
3 mmShaft Diameter:

I have the esc and prop combo for this set up so would be good but not sure if enough power for this plane on a 1300mah 3s lipo.

Cheers.

Mo, that's a classy paint job Sure to turn heads when you fly her.
If you can, get some video too, shaping up to be the best looker I have seen

I would imagine that motor would fly a Funbat but I prefer a higher kv motor so I can run something in the 6 - 7" prop size. At least it has a built in prop saver which should help prevent prop breakages on landing. All mine have had 1800 kv or higher motors.

Thanks, Headless. I will probably look at getting something from HK. A friend is using a 2408-21T brushless tower pro motor with a 40 amp speed control on 2200 mah 3s lipo.

Sure looks like a fun plane.

Well if you are shopping at HK then why not go for the Funfighter motor at $9.99 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=24497. Similar weight to the 2408-21T and I'm getting over 10 mins of mixed flying on a 1300 nano-tech 45-90 c 3S pack http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=18207. Or you could go for the parkjet standard motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=24239 which is available from the US warehouse. Go for a 6x5 or maybe a 7x4 prop with this one along with a 40 amp esc to give you some headroom but as always check out the numbers by using a wattmeter.
My FB is using a 7x5 prop and this 1800kv motor on his Funbat http://www.targethobby.com/hb2822-rc...p-4161589.html from Target Hobby. A lighter set up with around 20 amp esc and 3S 1000 mAh pack
I doubt you would have enough room for a 2200 mAh pack and even if you did, the weight would hurt the performance.

Headless, a class act again I see
I can brag to all the RCG followers that you are my FB who got me into RC flying, and from where I get my model inspiration from
So, has the extra vertical stab worked for you ?
Aren't I the person you expect something 'whacky' from, then surprised how well it flies
I particularly like the underside cooling vent idea, nice touch

She tracks well and roll very axially so, yes, the large central fin isn't hurting performance. Hey, don't blame me for you vivid model imagination. Who could forget your 3mm correx flying wing

WAAY OFF topic but since I was picked to help make kits available to you guys
I figure you should be appraised of my situation.

I got NEWS today !!! ( at least for me )

I got an acceptable OFFER for my home in the Northwest.

I will be moving in a month, to Indiana. ( near the Grand kids )

So, if you are on the fence about any of my stuff,
ya better make a decision NOW !

NOTICE:
Northwest Cutout Service is MOVING !
We will be moving to the Indianapolis area at the end of September,
close to the Grand Kids.
All orders received BEFORE September 7 will be honored
depending on stock availability.

However, all operations will be closed at that time.
We intend to reopen as soon as possible after relocation.
We very much appreciate all the business you have afforded us,

Thank you very much.

When we reopen we will make an announcement here as well as RCGroups.

Best regards

Bob
