I also wonder what happend to Algy2. He was regularly posting plans and articles and then he was gone, he has not even logged into this forum since 12th April this year.

I have received a private message from Algy2 back in March of 2014. He had just returned from a 5 week stay at the local hospital (pneumonia and collapsed lung among the issues). His health has been waning and I fear the worst may have come.

I had wondered too what happened to Algy, we are just coming out of winter and it's far colder in Tasmania than it is up here. Not a good time of the year to be having lung issues.

He is definitely missed.

Cheers,
Rob

He was the main drive on posting plans here, he gave me great joy with his posts.
I do hope he is on the road to recovery and would like to thank him for all his work so far.
Best wishes
John

Mara plans are available here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...2#post29632844

The Mara is a 2.06m (81 inch) wingspan freeflight flying wing glider. All formers are complete - the fuselage has to be carved from a chunk of aspen. The designer is Markku Tähkäpää, reknown veteran Finnish modeler. The plans were drawn in 2014, but the model was designed in 1999. Pictures of the model are available at www.hangflygning.se - search for "Markku" and/or "Mara" or can be found in the same thread in which I also make the plan available).

Markku informed me that the plane glides and tows well, but is not equipped with dethermalizers of any sort - following local weather conditions closely is hence a must.

I think you'll find that Pink Lady was the F2A CL speed model flown by Bill Wisniewski at the 1966 World Champs at Swinderby. the first time most of us had seen a tuned pipe and its effects. I know because I did the commentary there.

He says: "Scaled from Curtiss factory drawings. Canopy and Spinner available."

Ah, Swinderby, A great old bomber field and where my father flew from as a National Service Paratrooper in the late fifties.

Until last year model flying was still going on there but the airfield has now been bought, model flying banned and it is in the process of being turned into a gravel pit, a sad end to such a historic place.

I have a recurring recollection of a FF, rather large rubber biplane by the mane of "Pink Lady". It is somewhat on the line of D. Platt's "Satin Doll".
