I thought I'd try a biplane. The SE5A has a slab-sided fuselage and parallel wings so its an easy shape. This one is all in 2mm correx with 3mm ply formers. span is 33 inches with 7 in cord (3.2 sq ft) and weight is spot on 32 oz so it has 10oz/sqft wing loading. Target was under 10 but its close enough!. motor is OS10la which should (just about?) manage it but I'm waiting on an 8x3 prob to make sure I get the thrust / rpm. There's .15 under the bench just in case...Wings are built thin (7/16 deep spar) and about 3 deg incidence. Now all I need is the weather - it driving rain and flood warnings here!

I use 5mm ply for the firewall and 3 for the formers. Cut big holes in the formers. I use thick CA sold as mitre-kit in builders merchants with the kicker. Sand the correx to a slight fluff and put a 1/2 wide strip folded into an angle on the back once its in to act as a doubler. Plane in photo is 2mm wings, 4 mm fuse. Firewall is CA-ed in and holds a OS52 surpass no problems (photo shows OS 40FS but it was underpowered). This plane has now done hours of flights and is on its 3rd wing (pilot error!!) but firewall is still tight. Span is 55in and weight 73 oz and its a great flyer. Its modified from Beaver's Corofury.

a few months ago I scored some 3mm black Correx off-cuts from a local packaging company. I had other "black" PSS intentions, but when my Camo Corrospit became a bit too abused from the Hermanus trip, I decided to build another Spitty

the wing at 3mm was only about a half ounce heavier than the Camo Spit's 2mm wing. I extended the nose about 20mm longer than my original (same as the plans on page 1) and was able to remove almost 150 grams from the original spinner. The Black Spitfire auw is 1100 grams

The unit is virtually indestructible !
Very easy to make and gives a finished fuselage with locations prepared for the radio, the tank and the engine mount in just 2 or 3 hours ...

But maybe someone with you tried?

I prepare a Mig 3 with the same concept, and I took pictures of the different stages
