I get the personal/home defense thing. But you should play around with some other guns. Old war horses are great fun. And if you do a little research you will find many were actually USED in our world's major wars. Pretty surreal to shoot rifles that were once on a battle field.

plus the 39 is cheaper than the 54 by a wee bit

I use rc to a substitute to shooting.

The m1 is my fav for old war guns.
The ar-10 chambered in .300 SAUM is my fav modern war guns; currently working on my 1300 yard groups.
1911 and ruger 678 gc are a toss up for fav auto hand gun.

I just love guns and airplanes.

been wanting conceal carry permit for while laws here are harsh
i was able to get license to carry when i worked for my father and my favorite handgun is the s&w .32 snub with either hammer shroud or hamer-less versions
they conceal well and do the job handguns are designed for much better than a 9mm (not very accurate but what do you expect its a 2 inch barrel)

favorite target rifle is my 87d stevens (.22 is cheap ammmo)
favorite varmint is anything in .17hmr with a bipod (i have 3)

best gun if you only plan on buying one is the us survivalist scouts backpack .22 it breaks down and minus scope fits in its own stock is very light and great for camping and targets but better for actual survival use as in backpacking in woods and such

you know what really cool if you love guns and planes?
the system used to fire bullets off the turtle deck on old ww1 and 2 biplanes had a timing belt between gun and engine to avoid striking prop

i bet one of us could work that out with a motor and a airsoft gun

Airsoft? I was thinking a .22 or even a 20 ga. shotgun. Couple that with FPV and tracking goggles, woe dude.

or try a higgins(hi point manufactured vintage slug 12g) sears model pump,

but for some real fun you should get yourself a norinco sks pre embargo

Kewl

A thardy-thardy.

I used to have a Bentley 'riot gun' - 6 shot 12g with a 20" barrel.

Dang, that thing kicked like a mule but was fun.

SKS an all those sorts of toys are no more Down Unda - any sort of self-loader (semi-auto), for that matter.

And 12g pumpies. But you can have a pump 30-ought-6. Go figure...
