Battery advice please

Hi

I need to get some new batterys for my 450 quad and 550 hexa that im building, ive got no extras like camera they will both be standard sort of weight although i will be adding extras to the 550 in the future.
im restricted to 3 cell lipos due to the motors im using and dont want to change them for the time being, ideally i would like to get around 10+min flight times so i can get some decent practice in,do i just buy the biggest mha i can get with the highest c rating,i know these will be heavy batterys and its going to be a bit of a compromise with extra weight versus extra flight time but surely the extra mah will give me extra run time is this how it works, any help and advice would be appreciated.

In my opinion it's a bit of a balancing act - I've got a Y6 (big bird 650mm) and three different batteries, all 25C. I get 10-14 mins with a 3300 mAh, same with 3800, and around 12 mins max with a 5500 mAh. Definitely takes more juice to get it off the ground with the 5500, I can hear the difference.

Ok thanks,so having the biggest mah battery is not always the way to go,i know it will be a compromise but its trying to find out the best compromise,do you think theres any need to go for the highest c rating also or should 30c- 40c be ok

thanks again.

I'm using 25c, powering 6 2830-850kv motors. They barely get warm, so I don't think they're working very hard. I would say 30-40c would be plenty.
