Question
Wind calculator for a 4020

Hi guys, Is there a specific calculator I would use for a HK4020?
I have a nib 12n8p 4020 to be redone @ 1000Kv. on the Scorpion site the
HKIII 4020 is 1100Kv using 3T/4T Delta. The motor being redone is a
HK 4020 is 910Kv using 10 Turn Delta.
The build requires as much torque I can squeeze out of this little beast for speed runs F3S style, high pitch low rpm. Am I too far off thinking of doing an ABCABC/ABCABC 5+5 1.5MM YY

also what does Scorpion mean by 3T/4T Delta? delta termination I understand but the 3t/4t ?

a)
HK 4020-910 is using a 12N8P config
10 turns Delta means 10 turns-passages/slot ABC windings style
b)
HKIII 4020-1100 is using a 12N10P config
3/4 turns Delta means 7 passages/slot dLRK windings style (asymmetric)

If you have a 12N8P kit use a) as the reference for Kv
On my sample S 4020-910 I measured 908 rpm/V
Of course Kv is inversely proportional to passages per slot

Thanks fourdan, I did a 8p with 5+5 parallel wye and got about 1047kv . How could i drop it to 1000kv?

Hi Apex Aero

If you rewind 5+6 parallel wye you will get around Kv 952 rpm/V

If you rewind 9 turns delta you will get around 1008 rpm/V

May I ask if the same rule applies on a 12n 8p as a 12n10p when it comes to the 1.7 times torque verses rpm?

Hi ApexAero
Given any configuration and geometric data (slots, magnets ..)
The rules are always
** Turns number is governing the Kv : Kv2 = Kv1 x N1 / N2
** Delta / Wye is providing a 1.74 ratio
** Serial / Half-Parallel / x Parallel is changing the Kv (serial = lower Kv ; // = higher Kv)
** Kv rpm/V x Torque/A is a constant (depending of units)
If you change the config and/or the geometry you change the Kv coefficient
example : more stator-mag height = lower Kv (for the same turns)
Also the volume (or coverage) of magnets is changing the coeff.
