Question
Good LHS in SoCal?

I know there have been a few discussions about this before, but did not want to dig through the threads when I can get a quick answer here.

Looking for a real good LHS in the LA area. Not looking for anything in particular, but figured with all the slope activity out this way there MUST be 1 or 2 exceptional ones to visit!

Thanks in advance for your help in helping me spend money! :-o

P.S. - Trying to stay away from SoaringUSA. That is WAAAAY to costly a visit for me!

Brian

I think it's Pegasus Hobbies, out by Rancho Cucamonga. That place is huge!

It depends on what you fly? Gas, electric, slope? I like Pacific Coast Hobies in harbor city. I fly slope so I'm mostly looking for parts.

Slope planes or slope parts?

Not too much as far as planes (except SUSA) - most of the LHS's are car related

They may have some epp combat wing kits. Probably find a Radian and maybe some of woody kits hiding around. Not too long ago they had a father son/daughter gentle lady build clinic I thought was cool.

It's in Montclair. Expect a hefty mark up on items, but its a nice place to visit and has an exceptional amount of building supplies/parts.

It's one of the only shops I've been in that stocks rx's for my A9. Not that I've bought any there... ($$)

If you are in the northern part of LA (like the San Fernando Valley), and are willing to drive a bit further, Marty's Hobbies in Thousand Oaks is a good LHS. Not really much in the way of slope specific planes, but lots of other stuff.

Are there any shops that do? Even in SoCal, it seems pretty hard to find an LHS that stocks slope stuff. I remember a brief period where Hobby People sold CR kits, but that was a while ago. Hobby House in the SF Valley use to stock slope kits too, but that ended when they were taken over by Heli Hobby.

Aircraft Spruce in Corona and Crystaliner in Costa Mesa are my favorites.

They're not really hobby shops, but they carry a lot of building supplies

Nauga,

The LHS scene for the slope is pretty lame, .. might be why Soaring USA is doing so well even though they carry hi-end stuff. Might be why they don't carry anything on the low end, ... they probably get more low end sales that wont pay the rent.

Were else are you going to go.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions! I went to PCH and like you said... slim on kits but allot of bits and bytes... Can always use that stuff! Oh they did have some Rite Wing kits for sale!

On another front.. I will be here for another 3-4 weeks with work. SOOOOOO I was thinking I could bring a plane out next week!

Where in the area can you slope around here???

I work nights so I can slope during the day. But I have no idea where.... I have a good selection of stuff to fly.. I was thinking probably a lighter air flyer??

Thanks..

What's a hobby shop?
Oh yeah I remember .......we used to almost live there just drooling over the next model we had to have and build. Saving our allowance to get enough to buy glue, paint and everything.....that and returning bottles for more change.

Yeah I remember......it was the best.
