I had a hard look when we were driving around there, and from the ferry. Big hills but they all looked rather rounded.

Yes you are quite right. No, at least to say, ACCESSIBLE decent DS sites in Wellington, but I haven't been there to try yet

flying in Wellington

We used to fly at the Wainuiomata Lighthouse. About 90-100m drop to the beach. Not sure if one can get still permission to fly there. To the Lighthouse was about 700m to walk, from where we were flying. What is not shown here are the High voltage power lines which were running parallel to the slope. They were far enough back from the edge not to bother us when landing.
I lived in Wainuiomata which was a 20km trip away from that spot.

27 years ago there was no access to it, from memory belonged to a farmer by the name of Riddiford , they would not let anyone on their land. But who knows a quarter of a century can change a lot.

Nah, didn't radar anything of mine. Peter was down the hill retrieving his plane. CrashNburner probably got to 180 something, That is as fast as the airframe will go. It is so poked now. Warped and bad servos

Went up to a spot today I have only tried once in a ENE wind (15min drive from my house) with a foamie wing to mild success. Today was windier though, 30kts, gusting 33, one gust reading at 35kts.

Took my new RT28 with me and MAN this new site rocks! But only problem is that it suffers from cloud regularly which is why I often don't bother. But I think in medium to low winds it will be a great practice spot. Has a fantastic landing area too! 4 ft high bracken and ferns. Was SUPER tempted to get the D60 out, but with no-one else there, no-one on radar, and no camera, I didn't see the point risking it before the US trip.

Didn't get any video as camera is still attached to the laptop uploading yesterday's video.

I will be heading up there next ENE wind, so will get video then.

Cheers bud. Can't access Youtube at work.

Yes have some much better footage of the foamy acro I will put into a vid of it's own.

Had the radar on a stand (cricket stump) with some tape holding the button down today. Got 124 out of it in its light unballasted state at 270g. Needs ballast. Well actually needs a new wing as one tip met at 100+ to a tree. Taped it up and kept going. Got 110 out of it with a bung tip. Really wraps itself up in tight circuits if you want. Great DS practice!

Have a new one on the board for the US
