I am sure you would have to modify the nut. The problem is there are not too many precision nuts coming with these fans and a crooked nut means a rotor wobble that you cant balance out. Here is what I had to do to a nut to get a collet to work with the CS90.

I have done similar things and even balanced crooked ones, but this one is to far off center and crooked. There is very little meat left from the original nut and its foot print is more like a thin washer than a nut.

May i ask which motor is the best for this CS18 blader?

still no one has had a good combination. All test show to many amps (over 100amps) with any thrust above 2kilos.

I think all the limited tests have been on 6S

Would anyone say that 12 blades is the limit for efficiency?
Any more than that is not effective?

but there are only a few low kv motor around... not sure 1650KV is suitable? Actually i hv a 1400kv HET motor...wonder will it produce more than 2.5KG of thrust with 18 blade config?

Any more than that is not effective?

I doubt that it is that simple. I would expect that the distance between the blades and the pitch and size of the blades as well as the diameter of the fan would all come into play. Then the RPM that the fan is turning at will also be a variable. There are a lot more than 12 blades on a GE turbofan ie., on a 757.

12 blade 90mm edf is not a GE turbofan ie., on a 757.

Yes I know that. But the point is that the number of blades is not the limiting factor as I tried to describe in the beginning of my post.

I also thought about that and they I realized. It would be a 12s setup that pushes 3k of thrust.

Ming, Pls post us some test videos on CS18 with matching motor to achieve the thrust that enable us to fly a 90mm plane with reasonable current consumption. this CS18 blade fan unit is still in box... waiting for a recommended motor. Pls advise. else i think i hv just wasted my money on this fan..cheers!

Has any one tried the 18blade rotor on another shroud? I know It dosent fit any of the other shrouds I have (freewing,flyfly, changesun), and the rotor would have to be trimed to fit. I think mabye it would get beter numbers from more stators. I havent ran my fan yet but when I get to it, I want to add more stators made from aluminum cans and see if it does anything for thrust numbers.

Its funny how Ming was promoting this fan and launching it, to be the first to have an 18blade fan on the market. (Arson is about to also) But now he is no were to be seen. I would like to know what he is going to say about the fan, now that some people here have tested it.

I dont have anything really I can put it in to fly it. right now I am waiting for my new digital scale to come in and then I will rerun a few tests and see if my thrust figures are in line
