Sealing the radio hatch

I have a Victor America Cubed sailboat. I know that my keel-well is sealed very well against leaking and I put quite a bit of Vasoline on the rudder shaft to seal it against leaking, while the Vasoline may not be absolutely leak proof, I believe the leaking I get, is coming from the fit of the radio hatch cover. Although the hatch does fit tightly, I wonder if anyone has come up with a better way to both secure and seal the hatch on their Victor Model Products hatch covers as I see most all the Victor models have a similar type of hatch?

This seems to be a good solution employed by some of the Soling one-meter guys.
