Orbit 80 - Aussie chevron wing record

This is just a small step on the way to greater things, but today at Dungog the Orbit 80 clocked a speed of 187 mph making it the fastest chevron wing in Australia.
It is now the 2nd fastest foamy in Australia, behind the Hummer (213 mph) and in front of the JW60 (184 mph).
I'm hoping we can give the Hummer a run for it's money, and if Sean isn't too busy spanking everyone with the Deepend we could reignite the foamy record battle in Australia.
First things first though. I have to get this Orbit over 200 mph.

Nice work! The Orbit sounds like a fantastic wing and it would be interesting to see the Wing King (Stu) put one through its paces. I have been meaning to build a bee that is sitting in a box for over a year but the lack of wing beds brings back bad memories from building the record weasel evo.

The part about foam speeds that I like the most is that they are within the reach and skill of the most people. Often build quality makes a difference so you can have a fast ship before it leaves the workbench.

Congrats Grant! Sounds like a top speed for the wind. Looks like it's got a lot more in it.

No video sorry Tim.
Pete and I have to invest in a gopro as well as another Falcon.

I expect the Hummer has a lot more speed in it. I just hope we get some good wind down here before it goes too much faster.

Look for a Contour HD or a Mobius.

All my videos are from a Contour HD and I wouldn't use anything else for ease of use. Stays on standby for about 15min, and has a big slider to turn itself on, so you can still do so with gloves on and is easy to do in a rush. Also has a rotatable lens so you can mount it 90degrees.

Biggest thing is you don't want any great than 130degree FOV for mounting to your head. Otherwise things get very small on the screen and look far away. I think 120 degrees is a good angle if you can fins a camera you like with that.

Contour is cheap too. REALLY want to see some video from you guys!

Grant, can you post some more info somewhere about the Orbit 80? Like servos used etc... Would be useful info

Thanks for the tip Alex, i'll keep the 120 degree FOV in mind when buying one.

In my Orbit 80 I am running Hitec HS-645MG servos off a 5 cell battery pack.

The little Ego is also a good option, it has 120 deg fov and you can go to 90 deg, but that's a digital zoom so you lose quality
